Shots rang out in the Al Tahoe neighborhood late Friday night, leaving a window of a home shattered, bullet holes in the siding and residents shaken.

Justin Pecsi told Lake Tahoe News he is pretty sure he knows who the shooter was who was driving a black Charger, but doesn’t know why the man would want him dead. His connection to the suspect is that he dated his girlfriend’s sister.

Pecsi claims the man believed to be the shooter got out of jail a few days ago.

“At this point we have nothing to indicate this shooting is gang related,” police Lt. Brian Williams told Lake Tahoe News.

Other city officials said six shots were fired, a gun has been recovered and that there have no arrests.

Pecsi said when cops were at his house on Nevada Avenue on Aug. 10 the suspect drove by. Officers went after him at a high rate of speed down San Jose Avenue, but never caught him, Pecsi said.

Pecsi said he asked the officers why they weren’t looking at the tire marks to be able track them back to the vehicle he believes was involved in the shooting.

“‘This isn’t CSI. It’s not TV’,” is what Pecsi said the officers told him.

On Saturday afternoon, glass still littered part of the front yard. The bullet holes in the window had not been boarded up or fixed.

Pecsi believes the casings left behind are from a Glock .45-caliber handgun.

Evidence from Aug. 11's shooting.

The four-year South Lake Tahoe resident says he isn’t sticking around, and plans soon to be headed to Los Angeles.

Officers have not said if this was an isolated incident or if there is a random shooter on the loose.

Where the shooting occurred is walking distance to the popular Regan Beach.

4th shooting this summer within about a 1 mile radius. If the olympics come here, they way most people are being missed we will probably not win a medal in a shooting event.

We need crime mapping here in south shore. We have been plagued with crime here on Gardner Mountain and there is no way to find out just how many incidents occur on your block.
The police and few concerned citizens will have a meeting in next couple weeks up to discuss crime. Time and date for those interested to come to neighbor hood meeting will be posted.
My goal is to get police incidents reports to a medium we all can see just how much crime goes on now day to day.
In last few weeks there has been surge of crime, I would just like to know where, when, and who this crime is affecting. That way I might be a little more informed, prepared and protected.
Here is a simple info facebook page for any body with crime info.We need crime mapping here in south shore. Just frustrated and looking for solutions.

The City of Chico has just such a mapping program. It’s free too. No brainer.

You could start a group on google and share points on google maps. It is very easy. Make it public and the police will definitely pay attention.

Thing fish, thanks for the advise. Want to help?

I don’t think you will need much help. Make a google account just for the project and get the word out. maps.google.com, click on my maps, then create new map, and from there you can just click to add points. Then you can share the map with others, or make it public and write a letter.
To allow other people to edit it, you have to click on ‘collaborate’ once you have titles and saved the map. Then you just enter email addresses and can link to the map.

Maybe Laketahoenews.net can have a link to the crime map. I agree, with all of the shootings and police activity this summer, it’s time people start paying serious attention. What has happened to our quiet, safe town? The 5 a.m. swat team bull horn awakening a couple of weeks ago in my neighborhood still has me shaken.

The drugs and gangs in this little town has become more evident every year. I knew it was going to be just a matter of time when violence drugs and thugs would enter this wonderful town. I don’t want a map of the crimes, I want something major to be done about the criminals that have invaded us.

Anyone use this site? I logged in but don’t see any mention of the Gardner Mountain crime or shooting.

Luke, to be fair; crime, drugs, etc. aren’t exactly a new thing here. The City’s mayor was arrested for dealing Cocaine back in the 80s for example. It’s always tempting to look back and think other periods were better times, but the reality likely is that crime rates, especially violent crime rates aren’t far off at all from other periods.

Perhaps it seems worse than it is because there is more reporting (thanks to the internet/LTN for example) and we’re more aware of things we might not of even heard of in the past.

That said, if anyone has any actual stats, please post a link…definitely curious to see what the trends have been.

AC, excellent point! The violent crime trend has actually lessened across the country over the last twenty years, yet by virtue of living in the information age we hear about things more, AND more quicker!
