Every Thursday from July 5-Aug. 23 is Exploring Arts Workshops at the South Lake Tahoe library conference room.

The projects will be suitable for children ages 4 through high school. Parents are welcome. All materials will be provided.

Please sign up at the library for each week so staff can plan for project materials. Projects will include weaving, clay, printmaking, painting on canvas, mask making, mosaics and collage.

Each week will feature a different project to be completed during the 1:30-3:3 pm workshop.

Lake Tahoe Historical Society’s annual garden tour will feature four gardens in the Angora burn area.

The event is July 29 from 10am-4pm.

The other three gardens are off Pioneer Trail.

Music and refreshments will be in town on Springwood in a garden.

Tickets are $20 and will be available for sale on July 1 at the museum and at local garden centers.

Barton Hospice’s grief class — Reflections of Life and Loss Grief — is the first and third Thursday of each month from 3-4:30pm.

The group meets at the Barton Foundation, (2092 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Ste. 600, South Lake Tahoe).

People who have experienced the loss of a loved one or have endured a significant, life-altering event are encouraged to attend.

The benefits of a bereavement group include sharing emotional connections with others when many cannot find peace with friends and family.

Beginning June 14, the Boys & Girls Club will be providing breakfast and lunch to those 18 and younger.

The free program is offered at the club’s main site located at 1100 Lyons Ave. The Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe is a sponsor of the Summer Food Service program. The program will continue through Aug. 24.

Breakfast is served from 8-9am. Lunch is served from noon–1pm.

Through this sponsorship, the Boys & Girls Club is able to provide nutritious meals and snacks to thousands of young people in South Lake Tahoe.

• The Bicycle Advisory Committee required by the passage of Measure R continued its June 8 meeting to June 12 at 9am. The committee members will meet at the parking lot at Lakeview Commons to bicycle along some of the city bicycle routes. The public is invited.

• South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission is having a workshop on the Tahoe Valley Community Plan June 14 at 3pm at Lake Tahoe Airport.

• While South Lake Tahoe Mayor Claire Fortier won’t say what her plans are, this is what her partner Maria Pielaet posted on Facebook in regards to her moving to Seattle this month, “… putting the house for sale. Claire is committed to city council for awhile.” Fortier has yet to tell her constituents, the people she works for, what “awhile” means.

Ansel White, a father of two young boys, a South Shore business owner and South Tahoe High graduate was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on May 28. He remains in critical condition at Renown Medical Center in Reno.

A fund-raiser dinner, including raffle and silent auction, will be June 19 at 5pm at Eagles Nest (472 Needle Peak Road, Stateline).

All proceeds will go to help with his overwhelming medical bills and recovery.

The Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet from 9am until noon on June 14 at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, 128 Market St., Stateline.

LTFAC will address issues related to federal activities at Lake Tahoe.

Items on the agenda include confirming the LTFAC Vision, updating and planning for the Tahoe Environmental Summit, and public comment.

Members of the public interested in finding out more about the LTFAC and applying to serve on the 2013-15 committee are welcome to attend this meeting. An open house where interested individuals can ask questions of the current LTFAC members, chairperson, and/or designated federal official will follow from noon until 1pm.
