Loop road subject of multiple meetings
There will be a meeting about the proposed loop road on the Shore Shore on Feb. 10 from 4:30pm-7pm at the South Tahoe Middle School multipurpose room.
It will feature a presentation of the project, and include a question and answer session.
Questions about the project are being taken in advance. Submit them to Tracy Franklin at tfranklin@cityofslt.us. Questions must be received by 5pm Feb. 8. Questions may also be asked at the meeting.
This meeting is spearheaded by the city to once and for all have all questions about the project answered.
This is in addition the Tahoe Transportation District’s scheduled meeting on the same topic on Jan. 26 from 5-7pm at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel.
It is my hope that the turnout for these meetings will be enormous and that people, especially those in opposition to this project, will either submit in advance or ask their questions at the meeting(s) that they want answers to and insist on getting those answered. There really should be no excuse for being uninformed about this proposed project after the conduct of those meetings. However, I’m sure the conspiracy theorists would disagree with me.
Build it already
Why encourage them. Let’s have a vote, a tenth of the cost of all these meetings.
Exactly Lou! I’ve gone to public meetings before. What a joke.
Those in power try to give those in attendance the appearance that the public is being heard. But always twist whatever input is giving to justify the already decided plan.
You want to know what the public thinks? Then have a vote!
Parker is 100% right.
‘Local’ people fear ‘retribution’ if they post their opinions using their real names!
What makes anyone think they’re (‘local’s’) are going to show their faces in public and on TV?
Anyone who attended the TTD information meeting at the Cantina with the South Shore Chamber and Carl Hasty came away with a slightly bitter taste on the answers. The questions asked were the same ones the chamber has been asking for over a year with no response until that meeting.
Parker is correct. There are usually shill questions picked and anyone who actually asks a question that is not canned they are quick to skirt the actual answer and move on to the next pre question. This towns powers to be are very hiddenly vindictive with the exception of Carl Ribaudo. He actually states in his Musings with the Trib there will be ramifications for those going against the norm.
4-mer, At the chamber meeting the questions were insisted to get answered and several questions had to be asked twice as the first answer skirted the answer. I only hope that some of those same questions get asked and answered at the Feb 10 meeting. I attended the meeting at Cantina as did other South Shore Chamber members and have already seen the presentation. Not much has changed with the exception that Eminent Domain is still on the table despite the council saying it is not. Lou, we need to vote because one of the “polls” the TTD uses is the Tribune poll which is for entertainment only. I know we need to move the town forward and this is as good a way as any but there are things going on that need to be questioned as to the actual feasibility and financials of pulling this off. My opinion only.
They wear you out with meeting’s. Staff’s getting paid apx.$40.00 per hour with bennies to shovel this stuff at you. They don’t care for your input, the decision has been made to add roads with less capacity to facilitate more development.
At a recent TRPA GB meeting, the Board members asked about funding and Carl stated it will be a challenge. Also of concern is this is a Transportation project with an affordable component and how that all come together cohesively?
There is no funding and no power to condemn. Its beyond a challenge.
I guess this is just going to happen and its a done-deal. Oh well.
4-mer, Yes to this is going to happen and no to the done deal. We have no choice as a community on moving forward with improving the town but the people who actually live here would like more say on what part of town we are going to do this in and is it necessary to turn stateline area into walkable when there is no parking on the Ca or Nv side to do this. All the improvements that the stores and casinos have done to put up nice store fronts and neon signs that can be seen by cars are going to go to waste. Instead of working on the roads and all the infrastructure that will have to be moved invest the money into affordable housing. For the almost $100 million price tag to complete just the realignment and infrastructure movement and hope for public / private money for the rest just buy everything and get us some affordable housing.
I have never seen such an effort to build something that nobody knows how it is supposed to be paid for.
We do not need it.
It will wind up like the grandios hole project did….bankrupt two or three times, then some half sized, half baked scheme with a bike path down the middle to camoflage the original too big excavation.
Parking in South Lake Tahoe? Don’t be silly.
