Two people were injured Sunday night when the vehicle they were in ran into a tree on Apache Drive in Meyers.

A Lake Valley firefighter told Lake Tahoe News a man and a women were taken to Barton Memorial Hospital. Both had been able to extricate themselves from the vehicle.

A resident in the area said two cars had been racing up Apache Drive, one white and one blue.

“One driver swerved off the side of the road and went head-on into a tree. Some neighbors witnessed both cars racing up Apache at a very high rate of speed,” the resident told LTN.

The California Highway Patrol responded June 18, saying they responded to an accident and had not gotten a call about a pursuit.
