An early morning fire displaced two South Lake Tahoe women.

Smoke was billowing from the single-family residence on Stockton Avenue when firefighters arrived about 3am April 30.

One woman was outside, uninjured, while the other was not home at the time. Two dogs died in the fire.

“The living room had some significant damage. Everything else had mild to moderate smoke damage,” fire Capt. Jon Anderson told Lake Tahoe News. The house is not livable, he added.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

I understand to save ones self from the threat of fire, but if she was truly uninjured, why would she let the two dog’s die. True I don’t know the circumstances, but I for one would at least try to find a safe way to free the dogs from the burning living room and just not stand there knowing your pet’s are burning to death.

Sounds very suspicious to me. I heard the sirens and if one person got out u injured how did 2 large dogs not get out. Seems the dogs would have been barking a waking up anyone in the house first.

Every time there is a fire in this town and dogs die people make judgemental comments out of ignorance without knowing the facts .
    The victims have suffered enough.
If your curious about why something like this happens, talk to a fire fighter and learn about smoke inhalation for starters.
    Think before you spew.

Having friends who have had fires in the homes and lost pets, we need to be more sympathetic. My friend’s animals were found in closets and under the beds. They tried to get them and thought they were right behind them. Animals are like children, they get scared and seek shelter. Sorry for your loss.

I am not unsympathetic- but seems this is not a case of just bad luck.. Before YOU go being sympathetic for every a hole on earth maybe think about both sides– I only said the events sounded suspect- and after 39yrs here I have either seen it or BEEN IT myself to realize that with all of the good and kind and respectful people there are the low life scandalous ones as well having been there myself and having crawled out of that funk myself some people ARE guilty by reason of can’t or won’t get help- so to all the Saints out there– things are not always what they seem and while people with selfish personal problems may not be able to help it, your kind of close mindedness enables them to continue to NOT be responsible by reason of they can’t help it…
