Douglas County man accused of killing infant

Trent Getty, 23, of the Carson Valley has been arrested in the death of his 2-month-old child.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy. The child was taken off life support Jan. 10 at 12:48pm.

Getty had been wanted on a $1 million warrant. He was located at the Greyhound depot in Sacramento on Saturday.

Getty had reportedly left the child at Carson Valley Medical Center on Jan. 7 and then was wanted when the injuries to the child did not match what he had told medical personnel.

He is awaiting extradition back to Douglas County.

    Nevada has a real death penalty case here with a good chance to enforce the law, if not he is going to be dealt with by inmates in a matter of real justice without courts.

    Ava is my grand daughter, my life, my light, my happiness. I cared for Her all the time. She was/is so loveing and was/is so loved. She was perfect. Ava was such a wonderful good baby.     Gwyn, our hearts go out to you and the rest of your family. Using whatever faith you believe in, little Ava is in a better place and safe from Trent. Be strong and know that others care if that helps on any way. Crimes are committed by all walks of life and Trent will pay dearly for his crime to Ava and the pain he has caused her family.
