The Sugar Pine Foundation and Explore Tahoe: An Urban Trailhead Visitor Center, and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association are teaming up for a morning of discovery and fun in the Van Sickle Bi-State Park in South Lake Tahoe.

During the free 1.5-mile trek people will explore forest management of this area, while visiting panoramic vistas and a small waterfall. All the while, we’ll discuss the fate of the magnificent Sugar Pine and what individuals are doing to help the species persevere for future generations.

People will be collecting sugar pine cones from high up in the trees and the director of the Sugar Pine Foundation will share her seed bank of knowledge.

The hike is Sept. 12 from 10am-noon. Go online to register.
