An El Dorado County search and rescue crew is at Cascade Lake this morning searching for a possible body.

A woman hiking on April 9 to Cascade Falls reported to deputies that afternoon that she thought she saw a body floating in the lake.

Nothing was found on Wednesday. A dive team was searching the South Shore lake off Highway 89 on Thursday morning. CalStar is also assisting with the search.

El Dorado County sheriff’s Lt. Pete Van Arnum told Lake Tahoe News there has been no report of a missing hiker.

It’s all our responsibility to report something suspicious such as a body. It’s the responsibility of the agency to which you report it to decide if they should spend taxpayer money to investigate.
I applaud the hiker and let’s hope she was wrong.

Nessie’s in Scotland. Tessie’s in Tahoe. Cassie’s the beast in Cascade Lake.

Know Bears, Maybe the floating body is another Indian coming to the surface from the “pitched battle between the Washoe and the Paiutes” all those years ago. It’s happened before so why not again?
Speaking of things in the water don’t stress about the cost of replacing your old toilet to conserve water(nice segue, huh?). Low flow toilets are not that expensive and are pretty easy to install.
So take care and have a good night. OLS
p.s. I met Worldcycle today and he’s a cool dude!

Old Long Skis, thanks for the encouraging words about new toilets.

I knew bodies in buckskins had turned up in Tahoe, but didn’t know they had in Cascade. I also never heard of them spontaneously surfacing and submerging again. Seems like it would be too cold way down on the bottom — that even the warm spring sun couldn’t reach that far down. But if that really is possible, it’s pretty interesting!
