Dog shot, S. Tahoe man arrested on pot charges

image_pdfimage_print

About three dozen marijuana plants were seized from a South Lake Tahoe residence this week, one person was arrested and a dog was shot.

The Rottweiler-pit bull mix seized the arm of an officer, but did not wound him. The dog ran off after being shot. It was eventually caught and taken to a vet to be treated for a wound he is expected to recover from.

Arrested was Joseph C. Parenteau, 26, of South Lake Tahoe. He is accused of illegal cultivation of marijuana and other drug charges. He has since posted bail.

Parenteau is not the owner of the two dogs at the residence. He was dog sitting the mix and a pit bull.

South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team members executed the search warrant Feb. 25.

Matt Underhill, SLEDNET commander, told Lake Tahoe News that Parenteau did not have a permit to cultivate marijuana, but he does have a medical marijuana card.

The investigation is ongoing.

Don’t leave your pets with your drug dealer. Hire a licensed pet sitter, or send them to one of the doggy camps in town.
Maybe Mrs Obama was right; the twenty-somethings are knuckleheads.

What a relief, I feel so much safer now. I hope they used the new military assault vehicle, maybe with helicopter back-up.

I bet the heroin and meth dealers are laughing their butts off.

Cali is letting rapists and murderers out of prison early and we raid pot dealers/growers and shoot their dog?

Well that explains the bloody dog my husband saw running down the road the other day.

I’m curious to see what the sentence is for this young man after officers shot a dog he was dog sitting for a friend and then arrest him for growing pot.
Being as the body guards, bouncers… or wait, MURDERERS, who killed Zippy at Mo’s got less than a year in jail, with some probation thrown in, after killing someone! It boggles the mind. I’ll bet the kid growing pot gets a much longer sentence than the killers.
    Go figure, OLS

The DRUG WAR has been a disaster for our rights as Americans. Do we really need militarized police with MACHINE GUNS, and no knock warrants for pot grows? Why? Justification for better toys to SWAT you with.

As I grow older I think that society and our rights would be improved if we spent our DRUG WAR money on treatment instead of NO knock warrants and militarized police toting fully automatic rifles. I have not seen any less drugs in the decades of this war, just more jack booted thugism. Take the money out of the drug business. I am sure pot will be fine and dandy when the government can get its cut of the action.

    Help
    (Shot dog in SLT)
    TAHOE TONKA
There were 2 dogs. The other dog was the oldest dog Cali. She is a 6 1/2 yr old blue brindle pitbull that was adopted from the Reno humane society in 2008. Apparently Cali ran back into the house and hid in the crawl space after Tonka was shot. From what we understand, they were about to shoot her as well until she crawled away and hid. Tonka was not successfully killed even though he was shot with a .40 caliber hallow point at close range. The bullet entered underneath his left eye and is still lodged in his neck. It is basically resting against his esophagus. His nasal cavity practically exploded and there is fragments of bone and shrapnel from the bullet in his snout. From my understanding, Tonka never even made contact with the officer. If any part of the officers body were in tonka’s mouth. He would of been seriously at risk of shooting himself in the process due to the placement of the entry wound. He has been having difficulty breathing today 3/2 sunday and is going into the vet tomorrow. The vet also wants to assess whether or not he should remove the bullet yet. We ask if there is any witnesses with more info to please help out by posting what they saw or contacting tonkas family asap thank you sooo much…please re post.. Our hearts are with tonka the innocent victim:)

I’d like to meet this SLEDNET officer to teach athing or two about laws, unless you want a revolution on your hands I’d begin to respect state laws as amended by the PEOPLE, prop215 and SB420 are the law and unless the police begin to obey the law I am allowed to by constitutional law to overthrow them and replace them with what the PEOPLE see fit.

here in Lake Tahoe, Marijuana as been a part of the community since I can remember, the fact that we can go on with snowglobe and the daily hypocrasy of the casinos is beyond me, I cant sit back anymore whie people are served alcohol and the ‘pot’ smokers are ran out of town, the fact is that more violence and death comes from alcohol and that the black market is created by man made laws.

What have we become? If the citizens think that this severe sociopathic behavior from law enforcement is acceptable why don’t we start building the gulags now?

These people are the slime of society, injuring an innocent dog while harming someone because of possession of a flower.

Its time to move past primitive ideals and become intelligent, humane and sensible people.

And they tell me there’s no room to trim police department budgets. We’re spending valuable taxpayer money to send a team of armed men to attack someone with a medical marijuana card, for growing a plant. And we’re going into ever more debt to pay for this? Come on, there’s your budget cuts right there.
