Food being given away in South Lake Tahoe
The Food Bank of El Dorado County and California Emergency Food Link will be continuing farmers markets style giveaways in South Lake Tahoe.
The dates are July 24, Aug. 28, Sept. 25 and Oct. 23. The free distributions are at 10am each day at the American Legion.

Once a month, what purpose does this serve?
Hey I am all for food Banks but,
MTT I am assuming your someone who has plenty to eat.
And you have no idea what its like to be truly hungry.
Only someone who cannot empathize with another who is poor could make a statement like that .
When your desperate every thing makes a huge difference !
A trip to the Food bank is awesome !
They Provide a great variety of nutritious items and with the huge amount of fresh produce they give out makes it possible for my children and myself to have a somewhat healthy diet.
It costs a lot to eat well.
I and a lot of other folks in this community are grateful for the generous folks at Christmas Cheer and The Food Bank.
Without their time and effort life for many of us would be very grim indeed.
Once a month is better than nothing and next to nothing is what I have most of the time.
A Food Bank volunteer had told me that they would like to come up twice a month if they could get the numbers of recipients up and Im happy to see that the word is being spread here.
What kind of pathetic excuse for a human being begrudges helping people in need of food for their families donated by those who realize just how fortunate they are?
I believe in Karma and I pity people like them that can be just one unfortunate accident, unexpected job loss or catastrophic illness away from need.

Thank God we have help here , Its better then the cities waiting in long lines, Power to Lake Tahoe for the food ,No need to walk the streets with a sign ,saying hungry,can you spare a dime ?
Where did I disparage food banks? I donate and have volunteered at a local food bank.
I was questioning the effectiveness of the once a month Farmers market givaway program. I would hape you have access to the food bank pretty much any day of the week EVERY DAY.

To me, food is so cheap that no american should ever go hungry. (Regardless of what circumstances) led to an absence of money of plentiful food. I have been very blessed in life food cost is nothing to me. I will do what i can to make sure no one I see is going hungry.
