The Fresh Ketch in South Lake Tahoe has new owners.

Longtime owner Bob Hassett has sold the restaurant to the majority owners of the Tahoe Keys Marina – Donna and Robert Krilich of Illinois.

Details of the transaction that closed in January have not been disclosed. Neither Hassett nor Donna Krilich returned calls. This means it is not known if there will be changes coming to the waterfront eatery.

The El Dorado Count Assessor’s Office lists the value of the property and business at $1,224,913.

The Krilichs bought the Tahoe Keys Marina in early 2009 for more than $20 million. South Shore real estate agent Jean Merkelbach has a minority interest in the marina, but is not part of the restaurant deal.

Robert Krilich has an extensive criminal history.

According to court documents, “(Robert Krilich) has been convicted of racketeering and other offenses related to a scheme that included bribery of public officials in order to obtain assistance in the approval and financing of construction projects.”

He was also convicted of drunken driving in South Lake Tahoe in 2009.

If he runs the restaurant like the marina, then the place will go to crap. The marina charges extremely high rates. Take a peek at the marina now, very few boats wintered in there. Unlike the past there were dozens. This last summer occupancy appeared down at least 25% from prior years. Something fishy may be going on?

I agree with concerned citizen, as a customer of the marina, I will boycott the restaurant and any other services the marina offers or has a hand in that I can do without. What a bunch of crumbs……….

Is this the same guy who donated $2,500k to hal cole’s campaign under the guise of Tahoe keys marina and yacht LL? A convicted felon who has bribed public officials?

“Robert Krilich has an extensive criminal history.” Looks like he’ll fit right in. Maybe he can take Bob Hassett’s old motto “A sunny place for shady people”.

Wonder how much longer the marina concession will be in the Keys before the Krilich’s take that over?

And I’m surprised the new owners can have a liquor license with that track record!

I’m sorry to see Bob Hassett feel compelled to sell.
He runs first class businesses thoughout the South Shore.

Just to clarify, The “A Sunny Place For Shady People” motto was attached to the Beacon long before Bob Hassett. Bobby Richards, the original GM when the Beacon was changed from it’s prior incarnation, came up with that in the eighties.

Is this Krillich Sr. or Krillich Jr.? I’m not going to mess around any more trying to put Google links on this comment section, but either one (or, perhaps, both) are just what SLT needs. A few more thugs running stuff hereabouts and maybe O’Rourke can be enticed back to his job. There’s always room for one more.
Perhaps Senior or Junior, whichever one isn’t busy with the Ketch, can open a fitness center.

I was in The Ketch this weekend and I have to say you all have nothing better to do, but gossip like a bunch of old ladies. First off, the wife bought the restaurant and not the husband!!! and the changes planned for the Ketch will make this place the hottest place in town. So get your stories straight before you gossip.

If you are waiting for SLTPD to do any “investigating” on these guys, most of us won’t live long enough. Still waiting for “any news clip” on a local embezzelment case first reported to SLPD nearly 15 months ago. State insurance has just gotten the case and they are “waiting” for some kind of report from SLTPD. Figures have way passed 5 figures.

I can think of several TAHOE KIDS that have never faced facts.
Follow the money, theres a long long trail awinding. Guess the name of the person that has the liquor license?

  13. Tahoe Kid says - Posted: February 11, 2013

You just have no clue and I am sure you do not even know what trail you are talking about, You can not even figure out who owns the place.

  14. Parker says - Posted: February 11, 2013

Tahoe Kid, if the wife has it, that means the husband has it too!!

  15. Tahoe Kid says - Posted: February 12, 2013

You should get your facts, you seem bored with your life…

  16. Parker says - Posted: February 15, 2013

Personal attacks illustrate the total lack of confidence you have in what you state!

If you think with the increase in lakeview/lakefront restaurants since the Fresh Ketch was first built, and with the shift of the town’s center since the gondola area was redevoloped, that the Fresh Ketch will be the “hottest place in town” you just don’t understand business/night life/restaurants!

However, putting the restaurant in the wife’s name may be the way that allows Alcohol Beverage Control to look past a convicted felon having a liquor license?!

  17. reza says - Posted: February 15, 2013

Doesn’t the fact that Cole took money from these guys bother anyone? $2500 from a convicted felon? Is everyone OK with that?
