This is what Highway 50 looked like 47 years ago in South Lake Tahoe. Photo/Don Lane

These photos compare Highway 50 at Winnemucca Avenue in South Lake Tahoe from approximately 1965 to July 2012.

The dry cleaners at left has been there since at least 1965.

Hancock Gas is now an extinct brand. The station is now 76.

The profile of the distant trees hasn’t changed much.

The casino billboards in the meadow were later replaced by Motel 6.
