Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District is giving nearly $11,000 to local charities.

The donated money is a pass through of sorts from the department’s health insurance consultant LBG Advisors. LBG Advisors is not keeping insurance carrier bonuses and instead donates them to local charities in the name of their clients. Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District has chosen the following nonprofits as beneficiaries:

• Tahoe Douglas Seniors Center — $1,700.

• Whittell High School Boosters Club — $1,700.

• Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation — $5,000.

• DCSO Douglas County Sheriff Advisory Council — $1,700. (Toward the purchase of the VIRTRA Ssimulator.)

• Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club — $600.
