South Lake Tahoe Cancer League’s annual See’s Candy sales begin Dec. 1.

The nonprofit sells boxes of candy through Dec. 24 as its major fundraiser for the year. The money raised helps Cancer League provide rides for are cancer patients to their appointments and stipends to help with daily expenses during treatment.

The store is open from noon-5pm near Starbucks in the Raley’s center at the Y.

·       The Bicycle Advisory Committee of the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Facilities Joint Powers Authority will meet Dec. 7, from 9-11am in the downstairs conference room at Lake Tahoe Airport.

The Nevada Division of Forestry is accepting applications for the Community Forest and Open Space Program competitive grant funding.

The CFP provides federal funding for the acquisition of private forest lands for public use. 

Tribal and local governments, land trust organizations and other qualified nonprofit conservation organizations may apply for CFP funds on behalf of interested private landowners. Each individual project may not exceed $400,000. Those interested in submitting a CFP application may view eligibility requirements and instructions online.  

The deadline to submit applications is 5pm Jan. 13.

·       El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will have a public hearing Dec. 13 at 9am in Placerville about raising rates for South Tahoe Refuse.

South Lake Tahoe is looking for residents to serve on a variety of boards.

People are needed for two-year terms for the Airport Land Use Commission, Building/ADA Board of Appeals, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Planning Commission.

El Dorado County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 6 are scheduled to have a public hearing on the county’s capital improvement program and traffic fee mitigation program.

Certification of the environmental impact report for the proposed West Slope roadway traffic improvement and mitigation fee program is expected.

The board will have seven related items to vote on.

The hearing will start no sooner than 2pm at the Community Development Agency, Building C Hearing Room, Placerville.
