Toddler storytime will continue at the Minden Library on Tuesdays June 6 through July 25 at 10:30am. Felt board stories, songs and musical instruments are included. This is for ages 3 and younger.

The Retail Industry Group of the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce is looking for budding or established retailers to join its monthly strategy sessions.

The mission of this group is to encourage growth in the retail industry by promoting buying locally and by providing resources for marketing, education, and support throughout the retail community.

June’s Retail Industry Group meeting will host city of South Lake Tahoe experts to discuss sign ordinances requirements.

·      A retired Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 passed away from medical complications last weekend. K9 Ben, who retired in 2014, died with his partner retired Deputy Cole Bunyard was by his side.

Truckee Day is a townwide street clean up and civic-pride day. This will be the 14th year.

Check in stations will open at 8am June 3 to get materials, volunteer T-shirt, and free lunch ticket. Preregistration is not required.

Everyone will be assigned a stretch of road to clean in their neighborhood. Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult. There there will be a block party starting at noon at Truckee River Regional Park on Brockway Road. Local nonprofit organizations and public agencies are invited to setup a booth at the block party as part of the community expo. For more information, go online.

In conjunction with Truckee Day, Truckee Police Department will be hosting a free paper shredding event for residents from 10am-noon in the Truckee Town Hall parking lot on Truckee Airport Road. Truckee residents may bring up to 100 pounds of paper to be shredded.

Daniel Shore, a doctoral candidate in the industrial-organizational psychology program at Virginia’s George Mason University, is coming to Stateline to share his research on the importance of boosting employee motivation and morale through the use of various types of recognition programs.

Fundamentally, when employees and their work are valued, their satisfaction and productivity rises and they are motivated to maintain or improve their good work.

The workshop will be June 1, noon to 1:30pm in conference room at the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce.

South Lake Tahoe wants people to take this survey about improving the city’s roads.

South Lake Tahoe’s roads need significant updates to fix underlying structural conditions, potholes and cracks that present safety concerns for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. The city is exploring options for improving infrastructure to meet modern standards.

The City Council is considering placing a a measure on the November ballot that would increase the local sales tax by one-half percent to fund local road improvements.
