Lake Tahoe Museum in South Lake Tahoe is putting on a history club for youth this summer.
Due to limited class size, reservations are required — 530.541.5458. Reservations are being accepted for the July 15, Aug. 5 and Aug. 19 classes.
The cost is $20 per child per class.
The museum is open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11am-3pm until the end of August.

· Emerald Bay State Park needs volunteers to work July 12, 9am-2pm to help restore the historic garden at Vikingsholm. Kids ages 10 and up welcome with a legal guardian. Go online to register.
· Tahoe Mountain Bike Patrol is recruiting for patrollers and running a training session on July 8. Patrollers mainly ride in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and assist visitors with directions, mechanical problems like flat tires, and first aid. · When Rebelution played at Harveys in June it wasn’t be the first time the band had been to the South Shore. Five years ago they were at Whiskey Dicks in South Lake Tahoe.
· Peaceful Easy, a tribute band to the Eagles, will play for free July 14 from 6-8pm at Minden Park.
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Water Quality Planning has approximately $1 million in federal funding available to provide grant assistance for projects that prevent or control nonpoint source water pollution, the leading cause of water quality impairment in Nevada.
Nonpoint source water pollution occurs when rain, snow melt and irrigation water flows over developed or disturbed land, carrying with it contaminants including oil, sediment, pesticides, bacteria and nutrients. This contaminated water makes its way into Nevada’s waterways either directly or through storm drains.
State, local and tribal governments, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions are eligible to apply. A non-federal match (cash and/or in-kind) of at least 50 percent of the total project cost is required.
Proposals will be accepted until 5pm Aug. 25.

· The El Dorado County Republican Central Committee meeting on July 10 will feature Ken Steers, former RCC chairman, to offer his perspective on a range of topics from local politics to the trials and tribulations of doing business in California and the U.S. The 6:30pm gathering will be at Park Community Church, 3901 Wild Chapparal Drive, Shingle Springs.

· Starting July 9, nighttime single lane closures from approximately 8pm-6am, with delays of 20-30 minutes are planned between Hidden Beach to three miles south of Sand Harbor State Park for construction of water quality and traffic safety improvements on Highway 28.

People will have the opportunity to walk or ride their bikes on the newest section of Interstate 580 in Carson City before it opens to vehicular traffic.
The new section of freeway is scheduled to open in August.
On July 22 between 9am and noon anyone on two feet or two wheels can go on it.
NDOT, federal and local representatives have a ceremony that day at 9am.
Event attendees should turn south onto the new freeway from southbound I-580 or Fairview Drive and follow event signs to the parking area located on the future freeway. Pet owners are discouraged from bringing animals.
The new segment of freeway marks completion of I-580 linking Reno and Carson City.

The Truckee Sanitary District, Truckee Donner Public Utility District, and town of Truckee are busy repairing streets and utility infrastructure damaged from this winter’s historic storms, along with doing routine maintenance.

Harveys is hosting a public rooftop party on July 4.
The top floor of the Stateline parking garage will include family activities, food and beverages, along with an unimpeded view of the fireworks display over Lake Tahoe.
Tickets may be purchased between 6 and 9pm. at the elevator entrance to the Harveys garage, located across from Harveys valet parking and hotel entrance. Entrance to the rooftop party begins at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 18 and younger. Tickets for the buffet dinner on the rooftop are $30 each. A cash bar is also available. Space is limited and tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
