Tahoe Area Coordinating Council for the Disabled is partnering with five South Shore restaurants to raise money for the next 30 years.

Each restaurant on their designated night is giving a percentage of proceeds to TACCD.

Coyote Grill’s turn is Oct. 27.

Getaway Café, Ernie’s Café and Passaretti’s have already had their respective nights.

U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews are scheduled to resume prescribed fire operations near Meyers on the south side of the intersection of Pioneer Trail and Highway 50 on Oct. 24, weather permitting.

In addition, operations may resume in the Angora Fire area. Both operations may continue through the week.

Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from these prescribed fire project areas. Smoke may be visible on Highway 50 in Meyers, as well as near the Angora Fire area. The Forest Service strives to minimize the impacts of smoke on local communities. Smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed.

• South Lake Tahoe’s 2010-11 budget won an award for how well it was put together from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. It was not judged on whether it was an accurate, functioning document.

• National Park Service officials on Oct. 21 said they won’t allow the Tour de California to ride through Yosemite. The 2012 bike route is expected to be announced any day.

Getting into Harveys at Stateline has been a bit difficult lately because of the work out front.

The sidewalk project is expected to be finished Oct. 26. The walkway will be heated so the ice and snow melt faster than the natural way of letting Mother Nature take care of it.

Carl Ribaudo, who runs Strategic Marketing Group in South Lake Tahoe and is executive director of Ski Lake Tahoe, will be one of two speakers at a Minden business gathering.

Bill Eadington, professor of economics and director of the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at the UNR, will be the other speaker at the Northern Nevada Development Authority, Business Council of Douglas County, and Carson Valley Chamber & Visitors Authority joint membership breakfast meeting.

The Nov. 8 event is from 7-9am at the Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Highway 395, Minden.

Caltrans is alerting motorists that up to 10 minute delays are excpected on Highway 267 from Oct. 19-21 form 7am-6pm.

Crews are winterizing wrapping up for the construction season.

This work is part of a $2.6 million road improvement project from Northstar Boulevard to Brockway Summit. This project will resume spring 2012.

Sierra Expeditionary Learning School’s fourth- and fifth-graders will be at the Tahoe Donner Golf Course on Oct. 23 to raise money for a trip to Yosemite so they can learn geology.

The Pitch and Putt event is from noon-5pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children, or $45 for a family. The cost includes: Pitch and Putt fun, prizes for all age groups, local pros facilitating the contest, on demand chipping contests and a barbecue lunch.
