Planners are still seeking comments from people concerned about transportation in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Two meetings earlier this month went over a variety of ideas.
People may enter their comments online until Dec. 3. The links below go to four areas where people can submit new ideas, vote on other ideas, or provide feedback directly to the TRPA transportation planners.

• Sarah Hussong-Johnson has been appointed director of engineering for South Lake Tahoe.
• Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Northstar offer ski lessons through the North American Ski Training Center.
• West Virginia’s 19th Crimes Against Children Conference convenes Nov. 16 with the keynote address given by Terry Probyn, the mother of South Lake Tahoe kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard.
• Carol S. Heape, CEO and founder of Elder Options Inc. in Placerville, has been recognized by the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers and awarded the Rose Kleiner Award.
• NV Energy was downgraded by equities research analysts at Bank of America from a “buy” rating to a “neutral” rating in a research note issued to investors Nov. 15. Analysts at Goldman Sachs reiterated a “buy” rating on shares of NV Energy in a research note to investors on Nov. 3.
The Douglas County Public Library in Zephyr Cove will be closed Nov. 23-26.

Tahoe City Parks and Recreation Department’s inaugural Breakfast with Santa at Rideout Community Center is Dec. 3 from 8:30-10:30am.
This family event is co-sponsored by the Tahoe City Rotary Club.
The event includes a pancake breakfast, photo opportunities, letters to Santa, ornament decorating, and of course, Santa. The event is $9 for children and $5 for adults.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Society will host the third annual Holiday in History on Dec. 2-4 at the Lake Tahoe Museum (3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe).
On that Friday the museum will be open from noon-8pm with activities all afternoon, holiday music, take pictures in front of the Victorian tree, tour the 1930s cabin, shop the bookstore for gifts – DVDs, posters, photo reprints, cards and find treasures on our bargain table.
On the Saturday and Sunday the same activities take place form 11am-3pm.
Admission is free.
U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews are scheduled to continue prescribed fire operations on Kingsbury Grade near North Benjamin today.
In addition, operations will begin near Logan Creek in Douglas County and Granlibakken on the West Shore, weather permitting.
Operations may continue through the week.
Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from these prescribed fire project areas. Smoke may be visible on Kingsbury Grade, Highway 50 near Logan Creek, and on Highway 89 on the West shore.
The Forest Service strives to minimize the impacts of smoke on local communities. Smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed.

North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District will be pile burning throughout the district, weather permitting, through the winter months and into the new year.
Smoke resulting from the pile burns will intermittently affect the surrounding area. People who are smoke sensitive are advised to stay inside and close their windows and doors as much as possible until the smoke dissipates.

• The U.S. Forest Service on Nov. 11 signed off on the Squaw-Alpine deal, with the expectation of KSL Capital Partners becoming majority owner and JMA Ventures minority of the two resorts on Nov. 15. The new company is called Squaw Valley Ski Holdings Inc.
• This is Caltrans’ El Dorado-Tahoe road work schedule for this week.
• Caesars Foundation donated a meal delivery van to Sierra Senior Services, a nonprofit that assists seniors in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area.
• The Mallory Foundation is giving $200,000 to Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center to renovate the emergency department.
• Murder suspect Brad Macewan will be tried in El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe. A trial setting conference is scheduled for Nov. 21.
A New Hope Animal Foundation is offering half off the cost of adoptions for all animals at the Placer County animal shelters in Auburn and in Tahoe Vista from Nov.15-Dec. 15.
All animals housed at both shelters are eligible for this promotion. The Auburn animal shelter is located at 11251 B Ave., Auburn and the Tahoe Vista shelter is located at 849 Shelter Road, Tahoe Vista.

National traffic studies have shown regular seat belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle accidents. When worn correctly, seat belts have been proven to reduce the risk of fatal injury to front-seat occupants by 45 percent in cars, and up to 60 percent in trucks, SUVs and minivans.
Seat belts are the single most effective piece of safety equipment in a vehicle, yet National Highway Traffic Safety Administration studies show that nearly one out of five Americans still fail to wear a seat belt when operating or riding in a motor vehicle.
