Bob Dog Pizza in Meyers is having a fundraiser for the South Tahoe Futbol Club, a competitive youth soccer team for ages 10-19.

It will be May 16 from 11am-9pm.

Twenty-five percent of profits will be donated to the club when people mention the promotion at the time of ordering food on Wednesday.

This is good for eat-in, pick up, take-n-bake and delivery.

Robert Hanna, great-great-grandson of John Muir, will give a presentation May 19 from 7-9pm at Unity at the Lake, 1195 Rufus Allen Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

Lake of the Sky Outfitters and Range of Light are sponsoring the event.

Tourism, transportation and the environment will be among the topics explored during the Pathways to Prosperity Trek being organized by Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce in partnership with North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce and the Tahoe Prosperity Center.

Basin business and civic leaders will travel by bus to Monterey Bay, Livermore and Sacramento in an effort to learn how other communities have succeeded in their quest for prosperity and environmental sustainability. The communities to be visited have faced similar challenges to those in the Lake Tahoe Basin, including moving a highway, sub-standard wages, high unemployment, environmental challenges and diverse populations with disparate interests.

The trip is June 5-7.

Third Alarm – an organization comprised of retired firefighters turned public speakers — will present CPR for Business on May 17 from 7-8pm at the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority office in Stateline.

The free event is put on by Tahoe Regional Young Professionals.

Third Alarm principles and solutions are designed to improve individual, team and organizational performance in the areas of accountability, best practices, customer service, morale, motivation, productivity, teamwork and work ethic.

There wills be an Older Americans Celebration at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center on May 16.

The theme is Never Too Old to Play. The day celebrates the important role older adults play in sharing their unique experiences, wisdom, and understanding to other generations through spirited participation in social group and service organizations.

Weight Loss Strategies for People with Diabetes is the subject of the May 17 6:30-7:30pm Barton Health lecture.

Weight loss strategies for people with diabetes will include healthy meal planning, high fiber food recommendations and exercise plans. Behavior modification techniques will be discussed to keep participants focused on their goal towards healthier living.

Tahoe Transportation District is hosting a forum May 16 to discuss the Highway 28 corridor safety and congestion issues.

The forum will introduce the East Shore Express, a proposed shuttle from Incline Village to Sand Harbor Beach State Recreation Area this summer as well as updates on the North Demonstration Bikeway, a 3-mile off-road path between Incline Village and Sand Harbor.

The East Shore Express would loop from Incline Village Elementary School (new and old locations) to Sand Harbor daily from 9am-6pm starting June 15, every 20 minutes. Additional buses would run during peak times and busy weekends. The projected cost is $3/person and includes free admittance into the state park.

The meeting is from 5:30-7:30pm at the Incline Village Library, 845 Alder Ave.

The third annual Lake Tahoe Basin Wildfire Awareness Week is May 26-June 3.

The theme this year is “Wildfire Survival: Your Home, Your Responsibility” at Explore Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe will be presenting a series of films that week.
