Early voting for the Nov. 6 election begins this week in various locations in California.

In El Dorado County, early voting is at the Recorder-Clerks Office, 3368 Lake Tahoe Blvd., No. 108, in South Lake Tahoe. (Office is closed from noon-1pm.) The Placerville location is at 2850 Fairlane Court. Both are open from 8am-5pm.

Truckee’s early voting is in the Town Clerk’s Department at Town Hall, 10183 Truckee Airport Road on weekdays from 8am-noon and 1-5pm from Oct. 9-Nov. 5.

Oct. 22 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

People registered absentee will have their ballots mailed Oct. 9.

The Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet Oct. 11 from from 9am-noon at the Tahoe Environmental Research Center, 291 Country Club Drive, Incline Village.

LTFAC will address issues related to federal activities at Lake Tahoe.

Items on the agenda include an update on biomass in the Lake Tahoe Basin, aquatic invasive species in Lake Mead, and public comment.

All Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public.

The South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center is putting on a Kids Night Out Pre-Halloween Dress-up Party.

The Oct. 26 6pm event is for grades 1-8.

The $25 fee includes swimming, pizza, movie, games, crafts, dress-up competition, decorations, face painting, candy, and more.

Prizes will be given for most realistic, most creative, and scariest costumes.

Tahoe Wellness Center is getting an overhaul and will have new floors, dim lighting, new furniture and a more relaxing atmosphere for meditation.

This month’s meditation is Oct. 29, 6-7pm, Tahoe Wellness Center in the Bijou Center, next to Hot Gossip, in South Lake Tahoe.

• South Lake Tahoe planning commissioners granted historic sign status to Tahoe Valley Pharmacy and Burger Lounge. The latter closed on Sept. 30 – but it’s the mug that has significance, not the name.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is offering docent led walking tours of Al Tahoe.

The tours are Oct. 13, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 at 1pm.
