The 14th annual prom has a Great Gatsby theme.

·       Placer County has been awarded a $90,437 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to the Placer County Probation Department, ensuring that high-risk, felony and repeat DUI offenders are complying with all court orders. These offenders are overrepresented in traffic crashes involving alcohol and other drugs, often with tragic results.

·      Mammoth Mountain and Boreal are scheduled to open Nov. 9.

The South Lake Tahoe Library is starting a fiber art group.

It will meet on the first Friday of the month from 2-3pm.

The group is open to those who enjoy knitting, crocheting, embroidery, hand sewing and other fiber arts. Participants are likely to learn new tricks, are encouraged to share projects, ideas, and stories with others.

Bring your current project or start a new one. All skill levels welcome.

The library is located at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

The four Democratic candidates for the 4th congressional seat will be in South Lake Tahoe on Nov. 16.

The forum will be at Lake Tahoe Community College in the board room from 6-8pm.

They will be talking about their views relating to the Lake Tahoe Basin, its issues and environment.

The seat is currently occupied by Republican Tom McClintock. The primary is in June, with the General Election in November 2018.

·     On Oct. 31 from 11am-11pm there will be a fundraiser at TahoeAleWorX for the Junior Pee Wee Viking football team that is going to the Best of the West Championship on Nov. 11 in Santa Clara. They are trying to defend their title.
