The El Dorado County Library Playmobile will be stationed outside the Live Violence Free office on Sept. 30 from 11am-2pm.

It’s a hands-on, interactive learning experience for kids. The palymobile is fully equipped with a Light Table, Play Kitchen, Sand Table and other toys.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office efforts to increase public awareness about the dangers of speeding are being helped by a grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety’s Joining Forces program.

The $4,600 grant funded four radar guns for the sheriff’s office, along with chargers and other support equipment. Deputies will use the equipment during commute hours to encourage drivers to stay safe and drive within the speed limits.

The South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center is having a tamale fundraiser.

Orders are being accepted Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 5pm. The last day to submit an order is Sept. 30 at noon.

Pork, chicken and cheese tamales are $15 a dozen. People can mix-and-match their orders. Only 80 dozen tamales will be sold.

Tamales will be ready on Oct. 4 between noon-5pm.

All proceeds go toward programs and services offered at the Family Resource Center.

Railroad Earth’s 3rd annual Hangtown Halloween Ball will run Oct. 24-27 at El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville.

The festival’s theme is Roaring ’20s World’s Fair.

The 312 people volunteered to revamp Bijou Community Park by laying sod to build a family picnic area, painting signs and picnic tables, planting shrubs, clearing bushes, redistributing wood chips, resurfacing the skate park, raking the volleyball courts, picking up trash, and cleaning up the bicycle path on Al Tahoe Boulevard.
