An email scam targeting utility customers appears to be making its way across the country, including to Liberty Utilities customers.

Utility customers have been contacted via email from someone claiming to represent their utility provider. The email indicates the customer has an overdue balance and demands payment immediately. Some of the emails have included specific customer information.

Liberty Utilities says not to respond to an email of this type. Specifically, do not click on any link or open any attachment to that email as doing so may compromise personal information.

Tahoe Production House is hosting real audio workshop Feb. 24-26.

Audio 101 is a three-day workshop with six-hour sessions. Topics include how the ear perceives sound, acoustics and sound travel. Hands on learning include setting up a sound system with speakers, basic connections, equalization, mixing and routing of signals, as well as power management.

The sessions are from 9:30am-4:30pm each day. It includes lunch at TPH — 2291 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

The Family Science Expo is March 19 in Incline Village.

Science Expo is open to children of all ages and their families. The theme is Earth and Space Science and will feature interactive science experiments, activities, and demonstrations emphasizing concepts in geology, climate and weather, and astronomy.

The free event is from 4-6pm at Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences, 291 Country Club Drive, Incline Village.

• Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce’s Feb. 4 Tech Tuesday is designed for newbies to social media. The 8am session will focus on the basics of social media and the unique benefits of each social media site yields its users. The meeting is at the chamber’s conference room in Stateline.

Tahoe Fund is seeking environmental improvement projects in the Tahoe basin that will restore lake clarity, improve outdoor recreation, and build a stronger sense of stewardship in the region.

The organization plans to build a portfolio of projects in need of monetary support that can attract donations from individuals, businesses and foundations. The board of directors will choose a handful of projects to be 2014 signature projects and the focus of the fund’s summer fundraising activities.

Eligible projects must be able to demonstrate that all environmental permits will be obtained, have strong community support, and have other sources of funding identified. Further details may be found here.

Money raised that night by Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe will be spent in the community.

The show highlights Mick Dodge’s relationship to the wilderness and the underlying philosophy found in a fitness practice called the Earthgym, which was created by Dodge and Incline Village resident Jacquie Chandler.

Following the episode will be live call-in with Dodge. The conversation will continue among those who turn out.
