he Douglas County Public Library in Minden and Zephyr Cove will be closed Nov. 27-28.
Both libraries will close at 5pm Nov. 26.
The Minden library will resume its regular schedule on Nov. 29 at 10am. The Zephyr Cove library will reopen Nov. 29 at 9am.

Beginning Monday there will be public transit between the Carson Valley and Reno.
Amador Stage Lines will provide the Carson Valley Airporter service. It is being subsidized by $365,000 in federal transportation funds administered by the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Stops include: Gardnerville Community Center, Carson Valley Inn, Minden Holiday Inn, Courtyard Marriott in Carson City, Carson City transit center, Reno-Tahoe International Airport and the National Bowling Stadium.
The cost is $16 one way between Carson City and Reno, and $24 between Douglas County and Reno.

The North Lake Tahoe Resort Association is accepting applications for three open seats on the association’s marketing committee.
Appointments will be made based on marketing experience, type of business the member is affiliated with and the portion of North Tahoe the member represents. New members will be appointed at the January board meeting and will serve a three-year term through 2017.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department has been awarded a $47,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety for a yearlong program of special enforcements and public awareness efforts to prevent traffic related deaths and injuries.
After falling dramatically between 2006 and 2010, the number of people killed and injured in traffic collisions saw slight increases in 2011 and 2012.
Officers they are particularly worried about recent increases in pedestrian and motorcycle fatalities and the dangers of distracting technologies.
This grant funding will provide opportunities to combat these and other problems such as drunken and drugged driving and speeding.
Activities that the grant will fund include:
Funding for this program is from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Nevada’s Joining Forces multi-county law enforcement program is launching its Click it or Ticket education effort alongside the nationwide effort to encourage motorists to strap on their seat belts.
Between now and Dec. 2, law enforcement officers will fan out across Nevada in search of motorists who are not buckled up.
Nevada statistics show that between 2007 and 2011, nearly a third (64 percent) of fatalities and serious injury crashes involving unbelted occupants occurred at night.
Nationwide, if vehicle occupants ages 5 and older wore their seat belts, some 3,031 lives could have been saved in 2012., according to the NHP.
Two Douglas County businesses took home top honors from the Northern Nevada Development Authority.
The Pioneer awards recognize businesses in the five-county region. Each county chose a business of the year. Douglas County’s business of the year award went to Bently Enterprises.
Bently was selected based on alignment with the county’s five guiding economic vitality principles:
