El Dorado County will have three new elected officials this year.
Recorder-Clerk Bill Schultz announced last year he would be retiring when his term expires.
Also not filing for the June election are the surveyor and treasurer/tax collector.
This means the filing deadline for those three seats has been extended to March 14 at 5pm.
South Lake Tahoe Mayor Wendy David’s next monthly conversation will be March 21.
With her will be Development Services Department employees Kevin Fabino and John Hitchcock.
Topics to start with will be housing issues, including permitting processes and the Single Room Occupancy Ordinance.
The session starts at 9am at the senior center.

This marks the 100th anniversary of the Unitied States observing this annual ritual. It started during World War I as a way to save coal.
· Heavenly Village is having a wine walk on March 22 from 4-7pm. With the help of several Amador County wineries, each shop in the village will be hosting a tasting station. All donations will go to Christmas Cheer. Cost is $15.

· Experimental Aircraft Association Truckee Chapter 1073 will be having a pancake breakfast on the second Saturday of each month, and offers free airplane rides to youths 8-17, all at the Truckee Tahoe Airport. · Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association filed its notice of appeal in the fire prevention fee case on March 1.
· Liberty Utilities is planning an outage in Kings Beach area along Brook Avenue on March 8 from 8:30am-4pm to replace an overhead wire.
Tahoe Transportation District would like to hear from everyone—residents, commuters, and visitors who use transit in the basin.
This could be people who have been on the winter ski shuttles to access Heavenly, taken the trolley to Emerald Bay in the summer, or riders using the bus to commute or shop or some other reason.
TTD wants people to take this survey whether they are regular or sporadic users. Feedback will be used to help improve the transit system.
· Placer County is canceling the Sustainability Plan public workshop scheduled for March 7 in Kings Beach. The county said, “It has been determined that additional outreach to the North Tahoe Community is necessary before conducting this workshop and so the county will be rescheduling the workshop and will send out notification shortly.”
· Jeff Dreher, a 23-year veteran of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, is now a chief investigator with the county’s District Attorney’s Office.
· “Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey” will be screened on March 16 at 6:30pm at Lake Tahoe Community College’s Duke Theatre. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door. Doors will open at 6pm.
· Robert Plant and his band the Sensational Space Shifters will be at Harveys on June 23.

El Dorado County on March 5 released the dates for seven ad hoc Cannabis Committee meetings, with the first one being today.
All meetings are from 3-5pm at the Board of Supervisors chambers, 330 Fair Lane in Placerville.
Meetings and topics are:

The annual Kings Beach Snowfest Parade will take place March 10 starting at 11:30am.
There will be an announcing stand in front of the King Building on Highway 28 at the Bear Street roundabout.
The parade will take place snow, rain, or shine.
Highway 28 in Kings Beach will be closed between Highway 267 and Fox Street for the parade starting at 11:25am. Detour routes will be available.
Kings Beach businesses within the road closure will maintain normal operating hours.
Highway 28 will re-open as soon as the parade is complete and no later than 12:30pm.
· South Lake Brewing is having a fundraiser for Sierra-at-Tahoe’s avalanche dogs on March 16 from 6-10pm. In addition to beer, there will be pizza, music and a raffle. Dogs on leash welcome.

· Power to Your Pelvis – Taking Control of Your Pelvic Floor will be a free talk on April 12, 6-7pm by Barton Health physical therapist Chris Kozlowski. It will be in the board room at Lake Tahoe Community College.

· Jerry Blackwill, vice president of strategic planning for the Truckee Donner Railroad Society and board president of the Sierra State Parks Foundation, will discuss constructing the Transcontinental Railroad: Central Pacific Railroad on March 9 at 5pm at the Tahoe Maritime Center in Tahoe City. Suggested donation of $5.
There will be a South Shore Arts town meeting on March 13 from 5:30-7:30pm at Tahoe Mountain Lab on Harrison Avenue.
There will be an informal pre-gathering with light refreshments from 5-5:30pm.
It will be facilitated by the Nevada Arts Council and the Tahoe Arts Alliance. The goal is to bring residents, businesses, and nonprofits together for a conversation to assess the current “state of the arts” on the South Shore.
With public input, organizers will then begin to explore, expand and prioritize the community’s vision for the arts and culture.
