Tahoe People’s Climate Day of Action is Oct. 14.

Tahoe Citizen’s Climate Lobby in conjunction with the People’s Climate Movement National Day of Action will take a demonstration photo out on the lake that day. Anyone who is concerned with how the lake and community are being impacted by the drought are encouraged to join.

Bread & Broth is seeking volunteers for its new program, Bread & Broth 4 Kids.

Volunteers are needed for one Thursday a month. However, the work is being done every Thursday.

Volunteers meet from 3:30-5pm at St. Theresa Grace Hall, 1041 Lyons Ave. in South Lake Tahoe to assemble bags containing seven meals, which provide nutritious food over the weekend for 100 students facing food-insecurity in South Lake Tahoe.

Kingsbury Grade in the early 1960s was mostly unpaved, joining Highway 50 with a simple stop sign posted on a corner of dirt, rocks and trees. A gate blocked wintertime travel over Kingsbury’s summit at Daggett Pass.

That corner of Kingsbury and Highway 50 is where the Rev. Raymond Love of Nevada opened the South Shore’s first wedding chapel about 1970. According to People magazine, Love’s Wedding Chapel monopoly was conducting 5,000 weddings a year.

·       The League to Save Lake Tahoe replaced 4,000 square feet of lawn with water-wise native plants at its South Lake Tahoe office.
