·      El Dorado County’s budget workshops have been moved to June 13, with the afternoon of June 14 reserved for final discussion, if needed, per interim CAO Larry Combs.

·       In January, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with WebQA Inc. for an online California Public Records Act system for tracking requests for public records. The system will launch May 23. Go online and then it’s under Online Services.

·       Seven Seas Inn (4145 Manzanita Ave., South Lake Tahoe) is having an open house June 9 from 5:30 to 7:30pm to showcase its renovations.

·      Meryl Lowell of Rotary Club South Lake Tahoe earned the Paul Harris Fellow Award.

·       The South Lake Tahoe Senior Center is having a pancake breakfast (8-11am) and rummage sale (8am-3pm) on May 21 at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children.

·       Douglas County Public Library is having story time at Lampe Park starting June 1 at 10:30am. It will continue every Wednesday through July 27. All ages are invited. The program includes stories, music and crafts.

·       The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association recognized physician Terry Orr of South Lake Tahoe as the 2016 recipient of the John J. Clair Jr. Award. This is given annually to a person who provides exceptional service to the U.S. Ski Team or U.S. Snowboarding.

·       The Truckee Town Council this month approved the first building – artists lofts – of the Truckee Railyard project.

The Food Bank of El Dorado County will be in South Lake Tahoe hosting a free farmers market and mobile food pantry on May 25 from 10-11am.

One allocation per household will be given out. Income guidelines may be found online.

The distribution will be at the American Legion Hall, 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Tahoe’s Got Taste is part art show, part wine tasting.

The May 20-21 event is at the Beach Retreat & Lodge in South Lake Tahoe.

Featured artists include Claudia Garza, Ellen Nunes, Bonita Paulis, Ginny Schankerman, Amy Hackleman, Kelley Hackleman, Matthew Welter, Bruce Lee and Hib Engler. Ten percent of sales will be donated to the Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation.

Friday’s 6-9pm event is $15; Saturday’s event includes dinner, costs $50 and is from 6:30-9pm.

·       Truckee’s council members and planning commissioners are having a joint meeting May 24 to discuss climate planning. The meeting starts at 6pm at the airport.

·       South Tahoe Public Utility District’s board is set to vote on the 2016-17 budget on May 19 at 6pm, 1275 Meadow Crest Drive, South Lake Tahoe.

Truckee Day is a townwide street clean up and civic pride day. The 13th annual event is June 4.

Check in stations will open at 8am for people to get their materials, volunteer T-shirt, and free lunch ticket. Pre-registration is not required.

People will be assigned a stretch of road to clean. Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

The block party starts at noon at Truckee River Regional Park on Brockway Road. Local nonprofits and public agencies are invited to setup a booth at the block party as part of our Community Expo. For more information, go online.

In conjunction with Truckee Day, Truckee Police Department will be hosting a free paper shredding event for residents from 10am-noon in the Truckee Town Hall parking lot on Truckee Airport Road. Truckee residents may bring up to 100 pounds of paper to be shredded.

·       North Tahoe Public Utility District is continuing its restricted watering days this summer.

·       The Academy of Dance Arts spring concert is May 20 and May 21. Dancers from Tahoe to Reno will perform the ballet the “Adventures of Madeline” at MontBleu in Stateline. The second half of the show is titled “Dancin’ Through the Decades”, with dance including jazz, tap, lyrical and contemporary. Tickets are $20. The show starts at 6pm.

·       Concerts at Commons Beach in Tahoe City return June 19.

·       Tahoe Unleashed Dog Park, which is just past the entrance to the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista, is open. There are two fenced off-leash areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs.

·      Cats at El Dorado County Animal Services shelters may be adopted on Fridays and Saturdays for $20 throughout May. The shelter in Meyers is located at 1120 Shakori Drive and is open from 9:30am-noon and 1-4:30pm.

·       There will be a free mental health first aid class on May 31 from 8:30am-4:30pm in South Lake Tahoe. This course introduces common mental health challenges, different stages of mental health issues, and how to help people in crisis and non-crisis situations. ·       The U.S. Forest Service is providing the recently restored Sardine Lookout on the Sierraville Ranger District of the Tahoe National Forest for public use at no charge from June 1-Oct. 30. The limit per reservation is two nights and one reservation per household during the 2016 season.

·       A Julia Morgan designed lakefront estate in Stateline sold for $8.5 million, marking the largest residential real estate sale in nearly a decade on the South Shore. The home was built in 1928 and includes a 2,750-square-foot main house with an 864-square-foot guesthouse, 1.65 acres with more than 180 feet of beach, a pier, and buoy.

·       Truckee High School’s senior fashion show is May 15 at 5pm at the Truckee Recreation Center.

On June 4, volunteers in Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay and Crystal Bay will take to the streets to pick up trash prior to the busy summer season.

Registration for the clean up day is at 9am at Community House, 265 Bear St., Kings Beach. This registration location is for Carnelian Bay, Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach and Crystal Bay. Or pick up supplies June 1-3, 8am-5:30pm by appointment by calling 530.546.9000.

Volunteers will be assigned specific locations; and will be provided with gloves, bags, and volunteer appreciation goodies, while supplies last.

Last year, more than 2,300 pounds of garbage was collected.

·      Emily Buntin has been selected as the Carson Valley Adult Day Club program director and is working with local and state agencies to license the program.

·      The Nevada Highway Patrol from May 16-June 1 will be looking for motorists and occupants who are not buckled up while traveling. During this time, officers will be looking for drivers and other occupants in vehicles who are not wearing their seat belts and/or children who are not properly in car or booster seat.
