Carl Ribaudo, who runs Strategic Marketing Group in South Lake Tahoe and is executive director of Ski Lake Tahoe, will be one of two speakers at a Minden business gathering.

Bill Eadington, professor of economics and director of the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at the UNR, will be the other speaker at the Northern Nevada Development Authority, Business Council of Douglas County, and Carson Valley Chamber & Visitors Authority joint membership breakfast meeting.

Sierra Expeditionary Learning School’s fourth- and fifth-graders will be at the Tahoe Donner Golf Course on Oct. 23 to raise money for a trip to Yosemite so they can learn geology.

The Pitch and Putt event is from noon-5pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children, or $45 for a family. The cost includes: Pitch and Putt fun, prizes for all age groups, local pros facilitating the contest, on demand chipping contests and a barbecue lunch.

Incline Village’s 32nd annual Pumpkin Patch is Oct. 22 from 10am-3pm at Incline Elementary School. There will be pony rides, bounce house, picture booth and raffle prizes. Admission is free.

This will be a three venue event creating the Barmuda Triangle in Tahoe City (Jake’s, Hacienda, and Lakeside). The fun starts at Jake’s On The Lake with a dance party with Ryu, no cover charge, Jello shots, and costume contest at 11pm with money prizes.

At 10pm Hacienda del Lago will have a live band, Jelly Bread (SF), and Lakeside will feature two house DJs, Micah J. (NLT) and Joseph Lee (SF).

Bounce from bar to bar to try the drink specials all night at all three venues.

Placer County, working in partnership with the California Tahoe Conservancy and North Tahoe Public Utility District, is hosting an informational open house regarding the proposed Dollar Creek Shared-Use Trail.

Residents and others interested are encouraged to attend, receive information, and share their thoughts regarding the trail. The open house is Oct. 18 from 4-6pm at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions and show maps of the proposed route.

The proposed trail would be located in Placer County, primarily within the Conservancy and NTPUD-owned properties, between the intersection of Dollar Drive and Highway 28 and the end of Fulton Crescent Road.

The separated trail would extend the existing North Shore bicycle trail network, and would link residential uses to jobs, schools, shopping and recreation and community areas. It would extend the exiting Tahoe City to Dollar Point trail through public lands commonly known as the Dollar and Firestone properties. The project would enhance recreation and transportation opportunities by extending existing paved trail network in the Tahoe City area, including TCPUD’s 10-mile Class 1 trail from Tahoe City to Sugar Pine Point State Park and the trail along the Truckee River. A trailhead parking facility near Dollar Point and Highway 28 may also be included for trail users.

The project schedule proposes to complete preliminary engineering and environmental permitting by June 2012, followed by construction in 2013, pending funding availability.

The free event is at Lake Tahoe Community College’s board room, 1 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe.

Trick or treat with Tahoe Regional Young Professionals at KRLT’s annual Treat Street on Oct. 31 from 5-8pm.

Every Halloween KRLT takes over a local motel and fills rooms with local businesses and nonprofits to hand out candy to kids in a safe, controlled environment. Thousands of children attend decked out as superheroes, princesses, magicians, monsters or in some creative creation at Pine Cone Acre Motel (735 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe).

TRYP members and volunteers will be passing out candy, serving hot cocoa and s’mores — in and around the haunted house. TRYP needs volunteers from 4-6pm and 7-10pm.
