The North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Winter Recreation Lunch on Nov. 17 at noon, with an 11:30am registration check-in at the Olympic Village Lodge (formerly Olympic Village Inn), 1909 Chamonix Place in Olympic Valley.
This event is geared to provide insight about winter happenings, including events, festivals and activities, to frontline, front desk, cashier, wait staff and concierge employees, along with business owners and managers. Attendees may give a brief presentation at the lunch, as well as provide 80 brochures or other pieces of collateral to be distributed during the event. This luncheon sells out, so early sign ups are recommended. Deadline to register is Nov. 11.
Cost is $30/person for chamber members and $40/person for non-members and includes lunch.

“Consider the Conversation” is a documentary done by Terry Kaldhusdal, a teacher and filmmaker from Wisconsin as well Mike Bernhagen, the director of community outreach and care partner relations at Rainbow Hospice in Wisconsin.
Together they joined forces to create a documentary exploring the American struggle with communication and preparation for the end-of-life. This film explores multiple perspectives on end-of-life care and includes information from medical personnel, patients, family, clergy, and national experts from around the country. Featured is Martin Welsh, a physician from Placerville and his challenges with ALS.
The film will be shown for free Nov. 17 at 1pm at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.
Trek on snowshoes by moonlight. Professional, knowledgeable guides will discuss natural history and astronomy topics as well as facts about the moon.
Stops include taking in the views and enjoying snacks and hot drinks.

Tahoe Regional Young Professionals will bring the Lake Tahoe community together to raise funds for Tahoe Youth & Family Services on Nov. 19 from 6-10pm at Riva Grill in South Lake Tahoe.
TRYP’s Winter White Holiday Party not only benefits a family in need, but provides an opportunity for locals from around the basin to get to know one another.
The evening includes live entertainment, holiday games and door and raffle prizes donated by local businesses including ski resorts tickets, gear tune-ups, wine tasting, and more.
Attendees are encouraged to wear “winter white” (though not required). Light hors d’oeuvres will be served and drinks will be available for purchase.

The annual Tree of Remembrance Interfaith Ceremony hosted by Barton Hospice and Foundation is Dec. 7 from 5:30-6:30pm at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church (2733 Lake Tahoe Blvd South Lake Tahoe).
This event gives attendees the opportunity to reflect on the memories they share and celebrate the lives of those they have lost.
Barton Hospice encourages everyone to take this opportunity to honor those they will forever cherish. Attendees will be able to say the name of the person in remembrance and light a candle in their honor. Music and song will be performed by OneVoice of Unity. Handmade porcelain ornaments, glazed with iridescent mother-of-pearl, will be available for $15 each. All proceeds will benefit Barton Hospice.

To help the Lake Tahoe community stay healthy this season, Barton Health is providing free seasonal flu vaccines to children ages three to 18 residing in South Lake Tahoe on Nov. 19 from 1-5pm at Barton Family Medicine, 1090 Third St., South Lake Tahoe.
Anyone 19 and older may receive the flu vaccine for $20 and the pneumonia vaccine for $35. There is no appointment necessary to receive the vaccination(s); individuals will be treated on a walk-in-basis. Both vaccines are reimbursable for standard Medicare patients. Medicare HMOs cannot be billed.
