The Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association is presenting “Pedal-Driven: a bike-umentary”, a new documentary film from Jamie Howell at Moon Productions.

The screening will take place at Mo’s Place in South Lake Tahoe on Nov. 30 at 7pm. It will be preceded by a social hour starting at 6pm. The movie screening is in conjunction with the TAMBA End of Season Party.

The one-hour documentary examines the long-standing confrontation between mountain bikers and federal land management agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service over bikers’ access to public lands.

“Pedal-Driven” was created as a nonprofit project in affiliation with International Mountain Bicycling Association and with the cooperation of the Forest Service.

TAMBA is hosting this screening as a membership drive for 2012. The event is free to all new or renewing TAMBA members. TAMBA dues are $10 for individual memberships and can be purchased online or at the event.

TAMBA is the largest mountain bike organization in the Tahoe region and focuses its efforts on volunteer trail work, cooperation with land managers, and education of trail users.

Sola Rosa will be playing at MontBleu in Stateline on Dec. 3 at 8pm.

They blend sounds of hip hop, reggae, Latin, jazz, soul and funk.

This one of 10 stops on their North American tour.

The 17th annual MontBleu Holiday Extravaganza is Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, starting at 7pm each night.

Students in grades 3-12 in the various Lake Tahoe Unified School District choirs are the stars of the show.

It’s being billed as a Beer & Food Festival – the combination of six Lagunita’s Brewing Company specialty beers paired with food from Dragonfly.

The Dec. 1 event is from 6 to 9pm at the Truckee restaurant. Attendees can stop in anytime during the evening and roam the food and beer stations. Cost is $32.

Beer & Food Fest participants will have a chance to meet the people from the brewery and taste two of Lagunita’s limited specialty beers.

The annual South Lake Tahoe Turkey Trot is Nov. 19.

Registration is at 10am, with the kids’ races at 11am, and adults at noon.

Kids free, while it costs adults 18 and up $2.

The event is at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation & Swim Complex at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

All participants receive a hot dog or bagel lunch bag.

Winners in each age group receive a turkey and pumpkin pies to go second and third place finishers.

All participants and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for Christmas Cheer.

Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority winter tree is Dec. 2 from 5-7pm at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center (3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.).

Instead of standing outside the cold like years past, people will be able to take refuge inside the senior center and Tahoe Art League Gallery.

Free sleigh rides will be offered by Borges Sleigh Rides.

Disc jockey Derek Tarpey will spin holiday tunes, while the South Lake Tahoe Children’s Choral Society provides live music.

Tours of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum and 1930s Log Cabin will be available.

The community menorah will also be lighted.

Bring a camera to take photos with Santa inside the South Lake Tahoe Senior Citizens Center or in front of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum’s Victorian Tree.

Food and toy donations will be collected for Christmas Cheer and Caps For Kids.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will help light Christmas tree Dec. 2 at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach.

The event at 8318 North Lake Blvd. is from 5-7pm.

The annual community event will include photos with Santa, a cookie swap, craft stations for the kids, hot cocoa, candy canes, homemade soup and more.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Society will host the third annual Holiday in History on Dec. 2-4 at the Lake Tahoe Museum (3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe).

On that Friday the museum will be open from noon-8pm with activities all afternoon, holiday music, take pictures in front of the Victorian tree, tour the 1930s cabin, shop the bookstore for gifts – DVDs, posters, photo reprints, cards and find treasures on our bargain table.

On the Saturday and Sunday the same activities take place form 11am-3pm.

Admission is free.

The National Weather Service is hosting a Weather Spotter training course at the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District on Nov. 30 from 6-7:30pm.

The training will highlight how spotters help the National Weather Service issue life saving weather warnings and includes topics such as severe thunderstorms, flash floods, winter storms, and other extreme weather.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer weather spotter is encouraged to attend.

The training will be in the Incline Station Training Room, located at 863 Tanager, Incline Village.
