Chevys restaurant in South Lake Tahoe will donate 25 percent of a portion of its proceeds to Tahoe Arts Project on May 21 from 11am to 11pm.

Guests must provide a coupon in order for TAP to receive the donation. Coupons can be picked up at the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Education Center at 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd. or call Tahoe Arts Project at (530) 542.3632.

All proceeds will support TAP’s mission of bringing professional performing arts into the schools and community of South Lake Tahoe.

Proceeds from the  May 23 all-day car wash will help fund a trip to Los Angeles for members of South Lake Tahoe’s A Team.

The car wash will start at 8am across from the Swiss Chalet Village on Highway 50.

More than a dozen at-risk students whose grades and attendance meet the requirements will tour the Museum of Tolerance and Homeboy Industries.

Grants, service club, fund raisers and PAL are paying for the trip.

Summer Kickoff is for teenagers throughout the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. It will be at the ball fields at Lake Tahoe Community College in South Lake Tahoe on June 4 from 4-7pm.

It’s sponsored by all the agencies that are part of the Youth Task Force.

There will be a soccer tournament, open mic, urban art demonstration, food provided by Embassy Suites South Lake Tahoe, and more. Employers who have jobs for teens will be there.

Spring “Clean Up On the Run” Day on May 22 is from 9am-noon. This is the first cleanup day of its kind on Ski Run Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.

Habitat for Humanity has a nationwide program that is organizing in South Lake Tahoe. “A Brush With Kindness” serves low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes.

The program provides exterior painting, minor repairs, and some landscape improvement. Volunteers are needed and invited to an information and sign up meeting May 19 at 6:30pm at Hope Lutheran Church, 930 Julie Lane, South Lake Tahoe.

Paul Oakenfold, touted as one of the world’s renowned DJ/producers by various outlets including CNN, Rolling Stone, BPM and Remix, will get the party hopping Memorial Day Weekend at MontBleu casino in Stateline on May 28.

Kenneth Thomas, an Oakenfold prodigy who toured with him during two world tours, and Trevor Simpson are the opening acts.

In 2007 Oakenfold released his Greatest Hits & Remixes through Perfecto/Ultra Records –- a 20-selection strong collection of his seminal recordings. The tracks range from original productions to singles “Starry Eyed Surprise” “Ready Steady Go,” and “Faster Kill Pussycat,” featuring Brittany Murphy.

“Starry Eyed Surprise” reappeared in early 2005 as part of Diet Coke’s ad campaign for their re-launch of the beverage using Splenda.
