Bijou Bash is an all-day event for the family — with activities, food booths, K-9 demonstrations, emergency equipment to roam in and more. It is at Bijou Community Park off Al Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.

Admission is free.

The date is Sept. 11 from 11am-4pm.

Mulligan’s are allowed during Barton Foundation’s 16th annual Golf Tournament at Genoa Lakes – The Lakes Course on July 23, but only if you pay for them.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the foundation’s community health endowment fund.

Registration, mulligan and raffle ticket sales begin at 6:45am. The fun, scramble golf tournament starts at 8am. Competitions throughout the course give golfers the chance to take home special prizes. As the golfing ends, guests join the awards party, barbecue and announcement of raffle prize winners.

Golfers also have the opportunity to win a car with a hole-in-one, courtesy of Cardinale Way, as well as other prizes for holes-in-one on additional holes. Everyone will compete in the closest-to-the-hole and longest drive competitions.

The $175 per person entry fee, of which $100 is tax deductible, includes green fees, cart, golfer amenity package, a barbecue lunch and no host bar.

Each year Barton has made changes to enhance the tournament and draw greater interest for returning golfers as well as for new supporters.

Over the years, more than $520,000 has been raised from the golf tournament.

All proceeds help build Barton Foundation’s Endowment Fund. Endowment investment earnings have allowed the Barton Foundation to fund various hospital projects including construction of the helipad in 2001, fund the Hospice program and Health Resource Center in 2002, purchase automated external defibrillators for El Dorado and Douglas counties, pay for Life-Line units for Hospice and fund the hospital’s Healing Design program.

The Cash Only Band is coming to the South Shore’s historic Boathouse Theatre on July 1 at 7:30pm.

Founded by front man guitarist Davin Kangas in 2002, the Cash Only Band started out as a Johnny Cash Tribute band and is a musical interpretation, not an impersonation.

Other band members include South Lake Tahoe’s Nate Alcorn on upright bass bringing a Western swing and slap style and Raybob Bowman on pedal steel. He has performed for more than 30 years with the likes of Naomi and Wynona Judd. Lowell Wilson is on the keyboard and synthesizer with his honky-tonk piano style and rock organ type sounds, along with Tom Parodie on drums with an innovative style.

Squaw Valley is hosting the 9th Annual Art, Wine & Music Festival where artwork, fine wine and internationally acclaimed music are celebrated.

The festival is July 17-18 from 11am to 5pm.

From 2-5pm, wine lovers can sample offerings from 15 wineries, including Robert Stemmler Winery, which offers vintages made exclusively with estate-grown grapes from The Donum Estate known for its exquisite Pinot Noirs and Ferguson Block in Carneros and the Nugent Vineyard in California’s Russian River Valley. July 8 at 2pm Explore Tahoe An Urban Trailhead presents a slide show featuring “Remembering Li’l Smokey” the true story of a bear cub rescued from Northern California wildfire in 2008.

Li’l Smokey was rehabilitated by Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care and released back to the wild where he lives today.
