The 25th annual Booster Club Golf Tournament is May 5-6 at Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline.

Edgewood donates the course so all funds raised benefit South Tahoe and Whittell high schools.

Entry fee is $125, which includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart and lunch. Or play both days for $225.

Each day is an individual tournament with a scramble format. Individuals, couples, and foursomes are welcome. Trophies will be awarded to the top the teams each day.

Registration and raffle ticket sales open at 9:30am, the tournament begins with a “shotgun” start at 11am. Lunch will be provided as golfers pass between the 9th and 10th holes.

The Truckee Tahoe Airport is soaring to new heights with the inaugural Truckee Tahoe Air Fair & Family Festival in July.

The last air shows at the airport were from 1974-96.

On July 7, from 7am to 4pm there will be periodic fly-bys; large static aircraft displays; pilot docents; hot air balloons (weather permitting); free Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1073 Young Eagle flights for youths ages 8 to 17; live music; kids activities; a food court, beer garden, souvenir and craft vendors and more family fun.

Scheduled to be on display are a large variety of aircraft from military, experimental and general aviation. Several of the original Tuskegee Airmen will attend as grand marshals.

This event is free, and all proceeds from sponsorships and vendor sales go toward local youth programs, activities and scholarships.

The 9-year-old Reno River Festival is changing dates – June 15-17.

Former Freestyle World Champion Ruth Gordon-Ebens has taken over as festival director.

The event includes freestyle, boatercross, and slalom kayaking competitions, as well as the Run Amuck fun run. Live music takes the stage throughout the weekend, along with Yoga in the Park and enough food and drink to satisfy most tastes.

This is the first year dogs will be part of the festival as competitors – with Splash Dogs and the Biggest Little Dog Jog.

The annual Douglas County lake schools fundraiser ‘Treasures of Zephyr Cove” is April 21 at 6pm at MontBleu in Stateline. For more information, click on the poster.

Lake Tahoe weather historian Mark McLaughlin will talk about this winter’s wild and wacky weather and where it stands historically at a fundraiser for Tahoe City Cross Country Ski Area.

McLaughlin will also be selling and autographing his two ski books, the double award-winning “Longboards to Olympics: A Century of Tahoe Winter Sports” and his newly released “Skiing at Lake Tahoe”. Both books will be discounted to $20 each, payable by cash or check. After the presentation chef Douglas Dale will cook up a three-course meal.

The event is March 31 from 6-8:30pm.

Limited tickets are available at $85 per person. This is an evening out for adults.

Network among local business leaders in the tourism industry at the Hard Rock Café. Join the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce staff, community members and students from CSU Chico’s Recreation and Hospitality Program on April 26 from 5-7pm.

Cost is $10 for members, $20 for non-members. Tickets will include your drink and raffle tickets as well as appetizers provided by our host, the Hard Rock Café inside Harveys at Stateline.

This year’s annual spring South Shore tourism forum is titled Trends in Tourism. On April 26 from 3-5pm Ralf Garrison and Emilyn Sheffield will present current statistics and trends to inform tourism and hospitality operations for the future.

Among the topics to be presented are differences in how the younger “wired” and ethnic visitors will connect with recreation in addition to a discussion on what types of accommodation units and amenities are most important to these growing market segments. Additionally, a “Millennial Team” of 20 college students from CSU Chico’s Recreation and Hospitality Program will be participating. They will present a report card to the community of their pre-arrival research, expectations and experiences.

On March 31 at the American Legion in South Lake Tahoe dance into spring with Bison and the Smugglin Hooch Jug Band.

This is a benefit for the Sierra Nevada Alliance.
