The Telluride Mountain Film Festival general public showing is scheduled for Dec. 17 at Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley. The doors open at 6:30pm, with a no-host bar and an 8pm film program.

Tickets purchased online are $20/person with current Squaw Valley Institute members at $10/person and residents with North Tahoe/Truckee identification at $15/person. Tickets at the door (if available) are $20/person. Each event will run about two-and-a-half hours.

TAMBA meeting Dec. 15 from 6-8pm in the Aspen Room (L103) at Lake Tahoe Community College, One College Drive, South Lake Tahoe.

The purpose of the mountain bike meeting is to begin forming the leadership and organizational structure of TAMBA.

Mount Shasta keyboardist, harmonica and tabla player Anton Mizerak, singer Laura Berryhill and Nepali maestro flautist Manose will present an afternoon of transformational healing music, Nepali folk tunes and chants from around the world on Dec. 12 at noon at Unity at the Lake in South Lake Tahoe.

Mizerak lives in Mount Shasta and writes his music in nature, believing that the organic experience of sun, wind, water, snow and earth, transmitted through music, can be a valuable nurturing and healing experience.

Mizerak plays keyboards and harmonica. His music has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio show “Echoes” and on the digital New Age Music format “Soundscapes”.

The Sierra Ballet Theatre Company will be performing Madeline’s Christmas at MontBleu in Stateline on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18 at 7pm.

Artist and graphic novelist Jared Manninen will show his work and take orders for his first graphic novel at Bona Fide Books on Dec. 17 from 7-9 pm.

An assortment of his original artwork will be available for sale, and the art for his graphic novel will be on display.

Bona Fide is located behind the Getaway Cafe in Meyers.

The Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation will host a cocktail party in honor of the launch of its exclusive new donor benefit program – Friends of the Foundation – on Dec. 16 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Alpine Club in The Village at Northstar.

The Friends of the Foundation offers a $10,000 and a $5,000 giving level and membership is open to 30 donors at each level. Donor benefits include skiing, golfing, dining and cultural event privileges.

The donor club was created to help supplement the foundation’s current grant giving.

UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center post-doctoral researcher Alexander Forrest just returned from Antarctica after three weeks on the ice. Forrest was part of an international collaboration between United States, Canada, New Zealand, and France to deploy an underwater robot to study Antarctic sea ice, which is expected to decline more than 33 percent by 2100.

Join Forrest for a presentation on the research project, Flying Under the Big Ice Antarctica: Robotic Submarines in Antarctica on Dec. 8 at 6pm at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences on the Sierra Nevada College campus in Incline Village.

The 16th annual MontBleu Holiday Extravaganza is Dec. 9 and 10 at the MontBleu Theater in Stateline.

Doors open at 6pm and the show begins at 7pm.

Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors (under 5 is free).

The South Lake Tahoe Children’s Choral Society will present an evening of holiday music, featuring the Tahoe Elementary Honor Choir, the Tahoe Intermediate Honor Choir, the Tahoe Belles and the Blue Ribbon Choir, with special appearance by the South Tahoe High School Choir, the Faculty/Parent Choir and the Marcia Sarosik Shining Stars.

Tahoe Arts Project will be conducting a raffle to help raise money for its performing arts in the schools programs.
