The Tahoe Choir presents three days of music of the ’40s.

Dates are May 4 at 8pm, May 5 8pm, and May 6 2pm.

All concerts are at the Duke Theatre at the Lake Tahoe Community College in South Lake Tahoe.

Join Friends of Hope Valley for a fun filled day pitching in to restore Hope Valley’s unique and beautiful habitat. Important jobs include planting willows to restore the banks of the West Fork Carson River.

Discover dabblers, divers, and other feathered friends on an early morning walk with Jim Woods, local birder and member of the Lahontan Audubon Society.

See what species are coming and going during the annual spring migration, and what birds will stick around all year. In May, the males will be singing their territorial and nesting songs and will be filling the forest with song. In August, identify the birds in changing plumage from breeding to winter feather and from fledgling to adult as they prepare for the upcoming winter migration. The trips will be along the Carson River and surrounding lands.

The dates are May 26 and Aug. 4, both from 8-11am, and starting at Sorensen’s Resort in Hope Valley.

Join astronomers Adrienne Cool and Ron Marzke of San Francisco State University for a nighttime event and slide show, peering through telescopes to spy planets, stars, and nebulae.

All ages are welcome to the May 12 event that will start about 8pm at Sorensen’s Resort in Hope Valley.

Cost is $10 adults/$5 kids, all proceeds (which will be matched by Sorensen’s) will go to support school science programs in Alpine County.

Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival is April 26-29.

A community meeting hosted by El Dorado County Supervisor Norma Santiago will take place April 4 from 6-8pm at the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School in Meyers.

This meeting will be a first step toward implementing an update of the Meyers Community Plan. The agenda includes a presentation by Santiago in which she will review major components and past processes along with identifying current community assets.

She will then ask for community input and unveil an implementation strategy which includes funding opportunities and next steps.

Capt. Jeff LaRoche, a local yachtsman, will present “Early Lake Tahoe Maritime History”, including underwater video of the Steamer Tahoe and the restoration of the 1921 Kneass built cruiser Quic-Chakidn on March 28 at 6pm.

The wait staff are volunteers, so tips are appreciated. For $10 people get a burger (regular, with cheese, or veggie), fries and a soft drink.
