Heavenly Mountain Resort’s senior staff left the mountain and converged in the kitchen at Bread & Broth this week to serve more than 75 locals in need of a hot meal.

In addition to providing volunteers to cook, serve meals and clean dishes at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall, Heavenly also donated $250 to sponsor the evening, with a promise from Blaise Carrig, COO at Heavenly and the evening’s chief bottle washer, for another $500 to go toward new pots and pans.

Folk, country and rock intersect with five men who call themselves The Dirt Floor Band. Early has a long history with music, having worked late nights in Memphis blues clubs and hosting his own R&B radio show in Colorado.

The 38th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance is Father’s Day weekend — June 18-20 — at the Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay on Lake Tahoe’s north shore.

In addition to the dozens of restored wooden boats from all makes, models, and years, the Marque Class for 2010 will be “Classic Glass” (up to 1964), and will consist of two subclasses: “Transitional Fiberglass,” to include boats manufactured with wood hulls and fiberglass accessories such as fins, hard tops, or decking, and “Full Fiberglass,” boats manufactured primarily out of fiberglass.

Tahoe City’s Shannon Bahrke was second in the World Cup moguls at Whiteface Mountain, N.Y., on Thursday.

The U.S. women took the top four spots. Hannah Kearney was first, then Bahrke, Heather McPhie and Michelle Roark.

Michael Morse finished fifth behind winner Guilbaut Colas of France in the men’s event to move into contention for a spot on the U.S. team for the Vancouver Olympics.

The U.S. team will be officially announced Tuesday in Park City.
