Plan to break up Calif. closer to being on ballot

A long-shot effort to break California into six separate states got a boost on Monday, when the billionaire venture capitalist behind the proposal said he had gathered enough signatures to place it on the ballot in two years.
Timothy Draper, a founder of a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm that has invested in Twitter, Skype and Tesla, among other companies, has been agitating for months for a ballot initiative to chop the most populous U.S. state into smaller entities.
“It’s important because it will help us create a more responsive, more innovative and more local government, and that ultimately will end up being better for all of Californians,” said Roger Salazar, a spokesman for the campaign. “The idea … is to create six states with responsive local governments – states that are more representative and accountable to their constituents.”
Salazar said Monday that the campaign had gathered more than the roughly 808,000 signatures needed to place the measure on the November 2016 ballot. Draper and other supporters plan to file the signatures with California Secretary of State Debra Bowen on Tuesday.

I would give almost anything to be NOT a part of Cali-Lib-Mexico anymore. But it has to be done properly. I think that in light of the catastrophic state of AMERICA, thanks to the Islamic/Muslim sympathizer, this is small potatoes. Well I can’t speak for the others but I for one am so glad to hear your rant.
I am also glad that I live in America, for as you point out so eloquently, otherwise I might be daed by now.
I do hope we get to keep that particular feature along with the rest of the protections of the Constitution of the United States. But that issue is “on the ropes” as most people now know.

Horrible idea,Parts of the new states would not be able to support themselves. Pensions would be slashed, state salaries and benefits would be hurt and state employees would be lost. The only reason we had a surplus this year was because of Tech Valley and the short term capital gains taxes paid this year, as stock options and the market soars.
The Press Release I just got said that they got 1.3 million signatures. They only needed 800,000 to get on the ballot.
When you consider that it has been a fairly stealthy campaign and yet they got blowout number of signatures I think it safe to say;This will be a big issue win, lose or draw.
So much hate…what a waste of energy, like this effort. 1.3 million signature or 10 million, doesn’t matter. The Senate will NOT allow any state to swell their ranks by 10 members, but it is a “not so cleverly” disguised attempt to get more republicans in the House.
Wonder what the average income was among those 1.3M?
