todd borg• South Lake Tahoe author Todd Borg will discuss his 12th book of the Owen McKenna mystery series on July 30 at 6:30pm at the South Lake Tahoe Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. The book will be for sale and he will sign copies.

• The natives and adapted natives workshop will cover the importance of using natives and adapted natives while landscaping and what specific plants do best in Tahoe’s climate. The free classes are from 5:30-6:30pm on July 21 at Lake Tahoe Community College Demonstration Garden in South Lake Tahoe and July 22 at the TERC Tahoe City Field Station.

• Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce’s July 1 Tech Tuesday is Constant Contact. The 5-7pm class at the chamber’s office in Stateline is free for members, $15 for non-members.

• Lake Tahoe Community College is offering a Spanish camp for kids in August. For more info, check out this flyer.

• Why do bad things seem to linger in our minds longer than the good things? Recent work suggests that negative thoughts are cognitively “stickier” than positive ones. This will be the subject of a July 17, 5:30-7pm talk at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village. Cost is $5. For more info, email klpoole@ucdavis.edu.

    The South Lake Tahoe Library loves Todd Borg, but he won’t be presenting his book until July 30th, at 6:30. Of course, we’d love to start the book earlier, as Todd’s the perfect summer read, but it needs to be officially “out” first!
