Villalobos in poor health; trial delayed

Alfred Villalobos, a key figure in the CalPERS bribery scandal, has had his criminal trial postponed because of poor health.
The Lake Tahoe businessman and his co-defendant, former CalPERS Chief Executive Fred Buenrostro, will now go on trial April 28 in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, a judge ruled Wednesday. Trial was originally set for March 3.
Villalobos’ lawyer, Bruce Funk, said in a court filing this week that Villalobos was hospitalized much of last fall in the Reno area and spent some time in hospice care. “Apparently, Mr. Villalobos suffered from acute ammonia poisoning due to the various medications he was taking for his neurological illnesses,” Funk wrote in his court filing. “Around that time period in November, he was completely unresponsive in the hospital for days.”
It’s good to have political connections. This trial has already been put off for years. . . now he’s not feeling up to it? Boo Freakin’ hoo. The political class and its cronies abide by a different set of laws from you and me. And neither Democrats nor Republicans are making any move to change that.
It’s time for a new way of thinking.

It’s definitely not a time for new thinking if such new ideas are from those that believe in the perverse and fantastical notions of Randian objectivism. These twisted economic and social changes to the basic fabric of a “We the People” society have been promoted by the Koch family since they were called the John Birch Society in the 50s. There numbers were few and they were barely tolerated then and were rightly viewed as the lunatic fringe.

Referring to Mr. Villalobos and Mr.Buenrostro as gov’t politicians as opposed to private sector money manipulators and private equity firm thieves is just more disingenuous blabber from the teabagger perspective. It’s people like these scumbags that must be eliminated from influencing gov’t.
However, I do agree that further delay to the SOB receiving his healthcare from the California prison system is a travesty of justice.

Mr. Villalobos quit his post in Richard Riordan’s(R) mayoral administration in 1993 because of his shady private sector dealings exposed by the LATimes. My point about this creep and those like him is that he was never elected as a gov’t official but weaseled his way into appointments as an “economic advisor” because of his ability to manipulate money in the private sector. We can argue semantics if you want to but I stand by my allegation that Dogula’s “new way of thinking” is nothing more than the “John Birch Society” reincarnate.
