Naso’s Reno properties may be used to pay for his public defender
By Gary Klien, Marin Independent Journal
A judge ordered serial killer Joseph Naso to reimburse Marin County more than $170,000 for legal services in his case, possibly through liens on his property in Reno.
But Naso apparently managed to unload $300,000 or more in liquid assets while he was awaiting trial, and it was unclear whether it could ever be recovered for victim restitution, county lawyers said.
County Counsel Jack Govi and a deputy, Ed Kiernan, said Naso drained his bank accounts and divested a $30,000 coin collection during his time in custody. They said there is evidence he gave the money to a son who is now living outside the country, possibly in the Philippines.

There’s a lesson here for folks who believe that serial killers are simply crazy. This guy has organized his life so his family will be cared for, regardless of the fact that he doesn’t actually have a retirement plan for them after he’s executed. Which we can all hope he lives long enough to experience.
I’m as liberal or progressive or whatever as anyone here, but wake up folks; there are truly evil people in this world.
He manipulated a system, that allowed itself to be manipulated.
Don’t they assess assets in a big case like this? Freeze the assets, and any actions related to the assets, until the end of trial?
