Nominees for the Reno Tahoe International Sports Hall of Fame are being sought.

Th Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition criteria are that the person was born and raised in the Reno-Tahoe area, spent a considerable amount of training time here or competed for a Northern Nevada college or university. Nominees should be retired, but coaches and administrators can still be active. Sports pioneers also can be considered.

Send nominations to halloffame@renotahoewintergames.org.

I’m going to e-mail my nomination of Curtis Fong to the Reno-Tahoe Hall of Fame. His body of winter/summer sports work through participation and promotion of the Lake Tahoe area is unparalleled. He is truly a Tahoe outdoor pioneer.

Given the criteria, I agree with BijouBill. . . Curtis has allowed the awareness of cycling to flourish in Tahoe, way above & beyond the community necessity to be informed of it’s intrinsic value.

As climate change beckons, and the communities realize the need to change their transit habits, this is an increasingly valuable asset. . .and Curtis is, and has always been, in the forefront, not only with his ‘visitor events’, but his long-standing support of the Bicycle Coalition, and before that Tahoe Region Advocates for Cycling, & TAMBA. . .
