Nevada braces for booming wildfire season

Nevada’s peak wildfire season could be late but it won’t be meek, if history is any guide.

That’s because the record-busting winter snow and rain that soaked the state will leave behind a bumper crop rangeland grasses that will serve as fuel for late-summer fires.

The northern and central areas of the state, in fact, are among the three spots in the U.S. with the highest potential for significant wildland fires, the others are in Northern California and a region from southern Georgia to central Florida.
