An 11-year-old is accused of setting two fires in Truckee.

On May 29 at about 7:35pm Truckee Fire, CalFire and U.S. Forest Service units responded to a small brush fire in the area of the Henness Flats apartments off Henness Road in Truckee. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire before it spread to any structures. Winds were light, but they pushed the fire in several directions, allowing it to spread rapidly.

USFS arson investigators quickly determined it was an intentionally set fire.

Truckee police officers and an arson investigator with the Truckee Fire Protection District continued the investigation and identified an 11-year-old boy who they believe was responsible for intentionally setting the fire. The juvenile was not cooperative when originally interviewed, but did admit to setting another fire two days prior in the same area that was put out by a neighbor.
