State Parks set to begin prescribed fires
California State Parks is planning prescribed burning in Burton Creek State Park and Sugar Pine Point State Park this fall.
Prescribed burning may begin as soon as Oct. 13.
Goals of the prescribed fire program include restoration of native forest conditions, promotion of forest resilience, and reduction of hazardous fire fuels.
Burns will be conducted during weather conditions predicted to be favorable for smoke rise and dispersal.
So more burning of the forest so the trees don’t catch on fire . More logging, er exuse me, it’s now called “fuel reduction” or “thinning”.
Get ready West Shore, the saws and bulldozers are heading your way! They will clearcut this place once again. Ah yes, the smell of burning wood and fresh cut healthy trees.
Thank you State Parks or is it USFS for making our place better for cutting trees and starting fires???????. OLS
Stay inside when they start the fires. It will make you sick. Good luck, Old Long skiis
Does anyone know how many AGENCIES operate in the Tahoe Basin?
Really, does anyone know how many there are!!!!
Federal, State, County, City here as, we the people, suffer the bi-State jurisdictional conflict zones battles.
I don’t know how many there are, but I do know that they have excellent pay, benefits and pensions. Also, they have the best offices and the very best vehicles and equipment. I see some of them almost every day cruise through the post office, pharmacy and shopping in their brand-new SUVs and pickups, picking up their mail, doing their shopping and errands. And, every one of those vehicles is exempt from registration and have little placards that say “Official use only” somewhere on the vehicle. Such incredible hubris.
