Spinouts, slick roads keep law enforcement busy

Law enforcement has been dealing with spinouts all day in and around the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch center in Truckee said there have been no injury accidents in their jurisdiction, which includes the entire basin. South Lake Tahoe Police Department as of 6:10pm Feb. 28 also has had zero injury accidents. Truckee police officers on Saturday responded to more than 15 reports of traffic collisions and vehicle spinouts because of the snow.
On the South Shore six people were hurt Saturday morning about one mile west of Cave Rock on Highway 50.
Snow totals have varied from about an inch in South Lake Tahoe to nearly a foot in Meyers and even more on the North Shore.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 8pm Feb. 28 for the Tahoe-Truckee areas. Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny, according to the National Weather Service, with a high of 39 degrees in Tahoe. Snow is back in the forecast for Monday.

Watched some absolutely bonehead driving maneuvers out and about today. Why does a little snow bring out the ‘driving moron’ in some people?
the real moron moves come out when we get a dumping and some idiot thinks he can go over a 3 ft berm, esp those in a small 2 wheel drive car.
I noticed that I got tailgated several times….I want to yell,
Yes I am slow and if you weren’t on my tail I would feel I have the room to slow down and safely move over so you can pass! But you are so darn close I can’t”.
Awww ……..So sad to see so many tourists having issues on our roads……..
Maybe we should lay down even more brine solution everywhere to protect them from any inconvenience and allow them to drive at speeds they’re accustomed to.
After all- It IS all about tourism isn’t it ?
