wine-1• Five El Dorado wineries will host a wine and food experience on Memorial Day Weekend celebrating Rhone varietals grown in the rocky soils of El Dorado’s Pleasant Valley. The wineries are Auriga, Holly’s Hill, Miraflores, Narrow Gate and Sierra Vista. The event is May 23-24 from 11am-4pm. To buy tickets, to online.

• Graham Kent (South Tahoe High class of 1980) from the UNR Seismological Laboratory will give a presentation on Alert Tahoe on April 18 at 1pm at the South Lake Tahoe Library — 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. Alert Tahoe is a one-of-a-kind, fire camera and multi-hazard tracking system that includes smoke investigation, prescribed fire oversight, wildfire tracking, Earthquake Early Warning, and monitoring of extreme weather events.

• Coyote Grill at Round Hill Square changed ownership this month and will become Casey’s, an American cantina. Tom Gallatin of Zephyr Cove is the new owner.

• Daffodil Hill opened Feb. 23; usual opening is mid-March. Call ahead to ensure is open – 209.296.7048.

    I don’t know who made the 36 Hours in Lake Tahoe video, but it is beautifully done. I can see similar videos featuring more summer activities or specific aspects of visiting the lake.
