Opinion: California Republicans — evolve or die

By Brian O’Leary Bennett, Los Angeles Times

Delegates to the California Republican Party state convention that begins Friday in Sacramento should be asking themselves just two questions: Why can’t they find an electable U.S. Senate candidate and how do they revive a state party that’s become irrelevant?

This state went from red to blue because the California GOP lost its Reaganesque compass and, alarmingly, a willingness to discern between moral absolutes and generational evolution. Ronald Reagan brilliantly never let himself be the captive or defender of the status quo or party orthodoxy. He embraced broad principles and found ways to solve problems without selling out.

Voters, popes, presidents and even some elders have evolved. The state party has not and seems to be perversely proud of it. Political parties are meant to win elections, not be martyrs to lost causes of bygone eras.

You got the shoe on the wrong foot.
California Democrats evolve or the state continues its decline to third world status. The gap between the poor, uneducated, and culturally weak and the well off becomes more pronounce everyday.
All metrics strongly point in that direction. Data doesn’t lie.

The headline should be something along the lines of “What will the Liberals do when a majority of the tax payers leave.” The taxpayers will not continue to pay the welfare state and excessive tax and fee costs and they will leave with their money and then who will support it? Will the state declare bankruptcy or beg for money from the feds?

Not hyperbole but fact. Tesla plans to build a multi-billion dollar plant in Reno and Toyota moved to Texas.
The handwriting is on the wall and it is not invisible ink. Wake up and smell the detritus.

California is doing fine. It is really strange is how many of you want to see it fail just to support your politics. Seems like you are at the end of your rope. Don’t discount the confirmation bias with these types.

Glad that the justanass ilk are heading to nevada, it dosent bother me a bit, I just wish they would keep going all the way to texass, build their big ol wall(probably using undocumented labor) and have their big ol shoot out cuz we know they will all have guns. It could become the next big reality tv show. Call it last man standing…

Beagle. California has completely turned around from the “A-nold” and ENRON days.

California is a net positive for the US Treasury and Nevada is a net negative.

Tesla is building in Reno because Sandoval and others Bribed Tesla with money and hookers and Interstate 80 was built by taxpayers and Ike.

When Republicans get over themselves with witch-hunts like Benghazi and relentless Obama-hating campaigns they might actually again offer solutions. (lastly at the state level)
Naaaaaaa……… it’ll never happen with this terminally disarrayed and dysfunctional party.
Besides ……. they still have to wait until after at the least 8 years of Hillary and another Liberal Nation-wide regime.
