you mean they didnt already have that option, Transit in the Tahoe-Reno Area is so behind. So many old people, change is guuna be a long wait.

No one wants to pay for transit. My guess is local residents would like a transit system that works better, free, regular service, buses that can hold more bikes, service to Meyers etc. but no one wants to pay for it.

It’s not specifically old people; it’s those people who think “old” with no consideration for changing times and needs. But one shouldn’t overlook the truly stupid either.

I just started a shuttle service based out of South Shore. Unfortunately, Im not lucky enough to be subsidized by the government. Im working on much needed transportation alternatives. The state to state red tape is expensive and time consuming for a little guy. But we are already doing great things for locals and tourism.

How bout our new county rep try to get like $50 a week for Meyers?… It’s gotta be cheaper than serving the Carson/Minden valley every day! Please don’t tell me that nobody would use it… There are plenty of seasonals and some locals that would use it if it were avail.. Previous managers didn’t have a clue and ruined it for us! A simple “connector” to and from “the y” a few times a day is all that is needed…. I guess I’ll keep driving my car to n fro every day instead…and maybe ride my bike when I have the chance way out to the high school on our new “scenic bike path” to nowhere….. Ah..no… What ever happened to the plan that I voted for?.. A path from elks club to the Sierra tract?….ok I’ll stop now.. My truck is plenty warmed up

Shenja, What do you mean by #50 a week, are you suggesting that would be the cost to run a bus a couple of times a day out to Meyers? The buses going to Minden/Carson have plenty of people that take it because of many of the Casino employees live in those areas.

Amador is able to service the Reno to Carson Area because of their NTA permit and because they are a major transportation company. Without Nevada’s permit, it is illegal to transport point to point in Nevada, even if you are permitted by DOT to run in all 50 states. It isn’t as easy as $50. There are fuel fees, major insurance premiums, licensing fees, employee wages, wear & tear on vehicles, Work Comp Insurance….the list goes on & on. Our area definitely needs reliable transportation.

I believe that the ” natural gas powered ” busses fuel at the airport already… I doubt it would cost much to continue on twice a day to Lira’s?… And the more people that know about a ride to n from MEYERS the more it will be utilized… Heck I’d be willing to pay a little extra if I had to. … Also don’t forget about the fact that there is service between Carson and Gardnerville…. I know, I know it is paid for by Douglas county…. It still sucks that we are left out
