Letter: Chamber is not being truthful

image_pdfimage_print

To the community,

The following are the emails that were between the Tahoe Chamber and Kenny Curtzwiler. Please note the dates these occurred as they are prior to the statement put out by the chamber explaining the selection process. Call it what you want as to what the reason was for excluding one candidate from District Five on their original statement of transparency, but I was not scored in their process.

How could the CEC possibly “miss” the scoring on a selection process they initiated? The chamber has since posted our scores, but they do not hold any validity on what was a flawed process to begin with.

Kenny Curtzwiler

Kenny Curtzwiler

I am asking the chamber and have asked them to not correct this as noted in the emails. I urge the community to call B Gorman and Craig Woodward to explain their reasoning behind this and not rely on one sided false press statements.

I chose not to answer the questions as several others have done as well, but I fully expected to be contacted by the CEC as put out by their statement stating that we would be contacted regardless of answering the questions or not. If they had contacted, me they might have been surprised by my answers as I have stated in other questioners that are public record.

B, any reason why District V was not included on the pdf? Thanks, Kenny.

Hi Kenny

Just got home from a great motorcycle ride and checked the website. I think it just got missed when the committee gave info to staff this week as they did district 5 stuff at their last meeting.

I will ask staff to check in with committee on Monday to get the numbers and load onto site. I am speaking at a meeting Monday so won’t get to office until late in day so likely won’t go up till Tuesday. Thanks for letting me know. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, b

Hi Kenny

My apologies for not getting back with you today. I ended up in a half-day session this morning with elected officials from Sac and then a half day planning session with a new business all afternoon and thus I am still trying to catch up tonight. I did speak with Craig today and I was wrong when I responded to you the other day. The CEC apparently did not score you when they scored Sue. So at this juncture we can leave things as they are or I can ask them each to submit a score sheet for you and then do the same formula as for the others and post both of your scores. I am happy to oblige whichever way you prefer.

Take care, “B”

It would be better for you correct the information that was put out in the press release where the chamber stated that each candidate was scored. Thanks, Kenny.

    Mr. Curtzwiler said:
“If they had contacted, me they might have been surprised by my answers as I have stated in other questioners that are public record.”

    Mr. Curtzwiler:
Would you please provide direction to all those “other questioners that are public record.” I don’t much care about what’s transpired between you and Ms. Gorman or you and the Tahoechamber.org since they aren’t running for Supervisor, but I’d be very interested to read/hear everything you’ve had to say about what you think are the important issues facing/affecting our community, and what you would do to address those, etc. I would venture to guess there may be others who feel likewise.

    Thank you.

    Mr Curtzwiler
I am sorry to say you may have just lost my vote. I was in agreement with you regarding the chamber process and the fact I feel it is inappropriate for the chamber to handle this. However for you to reprint private correspondence between yourself and B Gorman is I feel very inappropriate unless you had B’s permission.

This represents something I would never be comfortable with in an elected official as we have enough of this underhanded stuff going on with our elected officials as it is
    .
I would hope you will respond to the question as to if B was notified prior to your posting a private conversation that involved her.
This answer will seal my decision as to who I vote for

I have to agree with “Fifty Year” on this completely. Letters like these equate to adolescent stone throwing at best. What benefit to you campaign is there to mudslinging at someone who is not even in the race, Kenny? This is completely inappropriate behavior for someone aspiring to represent this community. I’m disappointed that this would even be published…

  5. SC Tahoe says - Posted: September 29, 2014

The first mistake was for the Tahoe Chamber to keep posting explanations, with regard to candidates, in what now comes across as almost apologetic. There is no reason for them to apologize. No reason to keep providing fodder.

Second. What is the point of this response from Mr. Curtzwieler? Several candidates have thumbed their noses at the Chamber, and it is their choice to do so. Do you now suggest that you were cheated or targeted? Or is this another swipe at “B” because you have to have an enemy?

For someone claiming to want to be a champion for SLT you sure don’t have a problem poking people when you feel scorned. If you win, is this going to be your approach? At some point we are all hoping to start moving past that.

  6. Local says - Posted: September 29, 2014

Kenny has a legitamite complaint. The Chamber should not be so politcally involved. They don’t politically represent all of their membership. I will not vote for one candidate that the Chamber is endorsing. The Chamber knows that they have to get their candidates elected to get their agenda accomplished. I want candidates that will represent the people of South Lake Tahoe and not the Nevada Chamber and the Nevada Gaming interest.

  7. Slapshot says - Posted: September 29, 2014

I have no problem with a business that joins a chamber to support their interest its no difference then employees joining a union to support their interests. Its also no different then environmental groups representing members to represent their interest. If you think the chamber is the only organization looking to support specific candidates wake up. In fact the chamber is late to the endorsement game.
These other groups have been endorsing candidates for years.

  8. SC Tahoe says - Posted: September 29, 2014

I think I’m going to dress up as a “Nevada” for Halloween and walk around scaring people.

  9. Joby says - Posted: September 29, 2014

The chamber or publications can support whom ever they want. Not voting is a foolish choice. Vote because you can! Vote based upon your educated decision based upon learning about candidates. If you vote based solely on endorsements, your selling yourself short. If I’m not mistaken this publication endorsed candidates and measures in the last election and about 80% of their endorsements lost. Get out and vote!

  10. Fifty year resident says - Posted: September 30, 2014

It is sad Mr Curtzwiler has changed the focus from the most important point of this election. We have important issues in this campaign that affect our community and the topic has been changed to a secondary issue he has with the chamber of commerce and their endorsement process.

I am disappointed to see this as our community has many important issues that need to be addressed. We need mature and knowledgeable leadership from our elected officials that can focus on the issues that affect our community.

  11. pine tree says - Posted: September 30, 2014

The Nevada side of the chamber loves and supports Angela. She voted for the dispensaries. Bass is a high roller and brings an entourage with him every time he patronizes the casinos. Angela supports their pocketbooks.

  12. Dingo says - Posted: September 30, 2014

I agree with 50 year resident – Mr Curtwiler lost my vote with his publication of this letter. I would expect a County Commissioner to find more constructive ways to deal with what is ultimately a minor and inconsequential dispute with the Chamber.

  13. Buck says - Posted: September 30, 2014

I personally want the truth not any more back room BS deals. No more sweeping it under the rug. Get out and vote please. We need reps that aren’t going to give the farm away to special interests.

  14. Chief Slowroller says - Posted: September 30, 2014

the Truth is more important than some of you folks realize.

as I told ol Kenny they are all paid to Hate you.

  15. rock4tahoe says - Posted: September 30, 2014

Chief. I am not paid to “hate” anyone. I do not understand why Mr. Curtzwiler is airing out this email thread, he seems to have a bone to pick with the Chamber; ok. What I do not understand is the lack of planning for questions on issues related to the entire County; not just Meyers. In another news source he dodged numerous questions related to County issues and seemed to act like it was no big deal. This online argument is not helping his cause… in my opinion.
