A 16-year-old who fractured his leg had to be airlifted out of the backcountry on Wednesday.

The teen was in Ward Canyon below Standford Rock on the Tahoe Rim Trail.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter airlifted him out July 24. Then North Taheoe fire crews treated him before transporting him to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee.
